ALOA Names Executive Director
The ALOA Board of Directors has appointed Mary A. May as the association’s next executive director.
Ms. May has a Bachelor of Science degree in business management from LeTourneau University. Her resume includes over 30 years of association management experience. She has been instrumental in the administration of ALOA in the areas of membership, communications, conventions, and finances.
Ms. May has been serving as Interim Executive Director of the association since October 2011. “I look forward to continuing to serve the entire membership and its partners in this new capacity,” she comments.
Ms. May officially assumes the position Jan. 1, 2013, when the association begins operating under its new name “ALOA Security Professionals Association, Inc.” For more information, visit www.aloa.org.
IDN-H. Hoffman Hosts Chicago Expo
IDN-H. Hoffman, a distributor of door hardware and security related products, hosted its fifth annual Chicago Trade Show on Oct. 20 in Rolling Meadows, IL. The Exhibit Hall was filled with over 70 manufacturers displaying items as diverse as automotive products, locksmith tools, padlocks, access control, CCTV, safes, safe locks, key machines, doors & frames, electronic access control, and both residential and commercial locks. There was something for every locksmith to see and hundreds of Midwest locksmiths made the trip to Chicago for the show.
With an emphasis on education, IDN-H. Hoffman offered a wide variety of classes for locksmiths including automotive updates, access control solutions, facility code compliance, and more on Oct.19 and 20.

Doyle Hosts Trade Show & Educational Weekend
Doyle Security Products’ 26th Annual Trade Show and Educational Weekend was a smashing success. The event took place over the weekend of Sept. 14-15 at Mystic Lake Casino & Hotel in Prior Lake, Minnesota. The trade show was attended by customers from Minnesota, North Dakota, South Dakota, Iowa, Illinois, Nebraska, and Wisconsin.
Ranging from High Security Automotive Lock to Medeco certification, Doyle customers furthered their knowledge of locksmithing and advanced themselves technically. New to the lineup of classes this year was the addition of business classes, focusing on tracking finances catered to the small business owner.
The Financial Management course was instructed by Pro-Lok CEO Adam Weinraub. Doyle customers were given the opportunity to pick the brain of a self-made executive in the industry, gaining valuable knowledge and receiving advice applicable to their own businesses.
The trade show filled Mystic Lake’s ballroom with more than 40 vendors. Thousands of dollars worth of prizes were given away at the show, including an ATV and a gas-powered golf cart.

Tri-Ed / Northern Video Supports Habitat for Humanity
Tri-Ed / Northern Video Distribution recently lent its support to Habitat for Humanity. Fifteen Tri-Ed / Northern Video employees volunteered Sept. 15th - 22 at Habitat for Humanity on John Island, SC.
The group, which spanned senior management to sales/administrative staff, labored for the full seven day week on a home that was under construction, performing various tasks including demolition, digging a foundation, and installing gables, tresses, hurricane plates and vinyl siding - all without the aid of automated machinery!
The main house the Tri-Ed / Northern Video team worked on was being built for a mother, her two children and handicapped grandmother. In order to be eligible for a Habitat home, the recipient must be a single parent with children, make under $25,000 and work on building at Habitat for a total of 500 hours.
"This was a truly fulfilling experience for our employees and a great way for our company to give back to the community," notes Tri-Ed / Northern Video President and CEO Pat Comunale. "As Habitat says, they are a HELPING hand, NOT a handout. It was our privilege and pleasure to lend our support and helping hands to this very important cause."
