Security Distribution Veterans Acquire Custom Electronic Supply

San Antonio, Texas -- Custom Electronic Supply, a wholesale distributor of security electronics based in San Jose, Calif., was acquired on August 30, 2019, by security distribution veterans Jason Dennis, Lannie Green, Matthew Green, and Danny Cranford.

Dennis, along with Matt and Lannie Green, are the former owners of San Antonio-based Security General International, a privately held solutions provider specializing in the distribution of emerging technology products and connectivity solutions, established in 1984. They sold Security General International to Tri-Ed in 2012. Cranford also brings to the venture very extensive industry experience and has worked in security distribution since 1987. He also served as co-owner of Security Data & Cable (SD&C) since its inception in 2001 before selling to Tri-Ed in 2010.

The acquisition of Custom Electronic Supply was an amicable one, catalyzed by the retirement of one of its two owners, Charlie Cohen. Dave Kelly, its other previous co-owner, will continue to oversee all California operations and the company will continue to do business as Custom Electronic Supply. All employees will also remain on-board, making the transition a seamless one for loyal customers who have come to rely on Customer Electronic Supply as their distribution partner for many years. Product lines span Access Control, Burg, Fire, Video Surveillance, Integrated Systems, Low Voltage Residential Systems, and Installation Tools and Supplies.

The four partners who, together own Custom Electronic Supply under the name Lone Star Systems Supply LLC, look forward to announcing additional new branch openings in the near future.

ASSA ABLOY Acquires Stiles Custom Metal, LifeSafety Power

ASSA ABLOY has acquired Stiles Custom Metal, a U.S. supplier of steel doors and frames for commercial applications.

The company reinforces our strong position in North America and is an additional opportunity to provide a complete range of products for total door opening solutions,” says Lucas Boselli, Executive Vice President of ASSA ABLOY and Head of the Americas Division.

Stiles was established in 1977 and has some 70 employees. The head office and factory are located in Ceres, California.

ASSA ABLOY has also cquired LifeSafety Power, a supplier of smart integrated access control power solutions for OEMs, integrators and end-users.

LifeSafety Power was established in 2009, has some 65 employees and is headquartered in Libertyville, Ill. Sales for 2019 are expected to reach about $30 million. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Irving, TX –ABLOY USA is adding more support staff and has hired Shayne Spears as the new Vertical Market Manager for Oil & Gas. He will be responsible for developing and enabling existing distribution channel partners and introducing end-users in the oil and gas market to ABLOY products and services.

“Shayne is the right guy for this job,” said Jerry Burhans, the Managing Director of ABLOY USA whom Spears reports to. “He has technical sales and business development experience and worked for an oil and gas product manufacturing facility. He also brings new ideas to the table and I’m confident he will be a huge asset to our team.”

Spears has nearly 10 years experience, including five years with Technip FMC, formerly FMC Technologies. After working as an inside sales representative with a concentration on flowline and well service sales in Canada and the Permian Basin in western Texas, he most recently served in a technical capacity assisting customers with specific applications in the oil and gas market.

“I was successful in my previous roles because of my product knowledge. I now hope to establish great relationships with new distributors and enable customer success with ABLOY’s mechanical and electronic technologies,” said Spears. “With ASSA ABLOY being a global leader in security solutions for critical infrastructure, products like CLIQ and PROTEC2 CLIQ™ Connect will be welcome additions to the oil and gas market.
