Miami Locksmith Killed During Lockout Call
A 37-year-old locksmith, Adrian Venereo, was shot and killed in West Miami, Florida, on February 20, 2026, by a man who had hired him for a lockout service. The suspect, Luis David Lemus, was arrested and charged with second-degree murder after shooting the locksmith in the head, according to police.
According to Miami news reports, the locksmith was called to a Miami apartment building early Friday evening. The suspect reportedly was installing a new lock on his door and managed to lock himself out, then called a locksmith. Police have witness reports, the potential gun and video surveillance.
The locksmith’s family has set up a GoFundMe page to help with final expenses. He is survived by his wife, Nicole, and two young children. See the family’s story.
Sadly, this is the second locksmith to lose their life in South Florida in recent months. Locksmith David Long was killed during an eviction in Vero Beach in November.
