Norton 1601 Door Closer

Dec. 27, 2016

Norton Door Controls' 1601 door closer is now fully adjustable to meet the opening and closing force requirements for a wide range of doors. Beyond an adjustable size 1-6 spring, the 1601 door closer is available with a variety of arms, brackets and choice of finishes. The flexibility of one unit to fit such a large number of commercial applications simplifies product selection while minimizing inventory for installers and hardware distributors.

The 1601 door closer’s one-piece, high-strength aluminum alloy body and heavy-duty arms, have endured stringent cycle testing to ensure a long life of proven reliability. A quick adjust slide arm makes for easy installation and adjustments. The 1601 ensures positive door control through separate latch, sweep and backcheck intensity valves that can be finely tuned independently.

Non-handed for installation on right or left-hand swing doors and complemented by more than 18 arm options, a variety of brackets and other accessories, the 1601 door closer is designed to fit a wide range of openings. Medium traffic doors, such as aluminum storefronts, office doors and storage closets are ideal applications for this robust, adjustable door closer.

“The 1601 is the perfect door closer for so many of your medium-traffic doors, especially today’s growing market of aluminum storefronts,” said Lana Kirkpatrick, brand manager, Norton Door Controls. “Over the past 60 years, the 1601 has earned a strong reputation for reliability, and now that it’s adjustable, it should be a standard choice for all relevant openings.”

Built for reliability, robustness and simple installation, the door closer was designed to comply with the opening force requirements of the ADA (Americans with Disabilities ACT) and ANSI A117.1 for interior doors.

The 1601 size 1 to 6 door closer is independently verified to exceed 25 million cycles and is offered with a 15-year limited warranty.
