Coronavirus Forces Postponement of ISC West

March 6, 2020

Reed Exhibitions, the organizer of the ISC West security industry convention, has announced that it is postponing the event, scheduled for March 17–20 at the Sands Expo Center in Las Vegas, because of concerns over the COVID-19 coronavirus. The show has been rescheduled for July 2020 at the same location, although dates haven’t been determined.

Reed previously had said the show would go on as scheduled, even as several exhibitors, including Johnson Controls, recently announced their intention to forgo the event. Today, however, Reed changed its mind.

In an email announcement, Reed says it based its decision to postpone the event on “our close monitoring of ongoing developments with the virus, recent reports from public health officials and extensive consultation with our partners in the global security community.”

As of March 6, 2020, health officials worldwide have identified nearly 100,000 cases of COVID-19, which has caused more than 3,300 deaths.

“This is not a decision we have taken lightly,” says Will Wise, group vice president at Reed. “Our customers, partners and staff have worked diligently to create an ISC West experience for the industry across converged security innovations, public safety best practices and strong community collaboration. It is imperative that we maintain our commitment to prioritize the health and safety of everyone involved with ISC West.

“We look forward to welcoming the global security and public safety community to Las Vegas in July.”
