Down The Road?

Hello. Your recent Editor’s Note about what is coming "down the road" (www.locksmithledger.com/12245743) got me to thinking. Each year in the fall we do a planning meet with our crew. Everyone has a month to think about it, then we get together for one hour and talk about where we are at, and do a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) review. Since we only have an hour, we get to the point quickly.

The Next Opportunities from last October for our little company were: Wireless, Cloud based, Open IP standards, video analytics, Smart homes including DIY and MIY, and the cell phone as a credential.

Interesting to see what stays on the list each year, and what is new. Always good to think about "what is next." Thanks for what you do.

Motorcycle Servicing

We just wanted to send this email to let you know the article you put in the Locksmith Ledger concerning the KM10 Ignition on Kawasaki motorcycles was very helpful to us recently (December 2009, www.locksmithledger.com/10228441). It helped us make the key for the motorcycle we were working with AND we were able to make us a card for our HPC machine. So we wanted to pass along the information we ended up with.

The motorcycle we were working with was a 2008 Kawasaki Ninja EX250JB with a KM10 ignition. Alan picked open the gas cap and removed the cap from the cycle and then made a working key for that which worked the seat compartment lock also. Alan then progressed the key to make a true working key for the ignition also. There was a number on the bike’s ignition lock housing which was 1831. The cuts were: 22112311 and we used the KA33 /X278 blank. Hope this information helps. Thank you for such a great magazine and the website.
