Kindoo Q&A

Locksmith Ledger interviewed Chaftari to learn more about Kindoo. Following are Ledger’s questions and Chaftari’s answers.

Locksmith Ledger: How do locksmiths fit in the Kindoo universe? Can they become authorized sellers and earn RMR?

Michael Chaftari: Locksmiths are a natural fit due to their expertise in locks and physical security.

Our unique wireless access control solution combines the latest in smartphone credentialing and Cloud-based access management, eliminating the need for physical credentials and on-site network IT expertise. More so, Kindoo is compatible with ANY electronic lock, gate, turnstile, or security entrance, making it easier than ever to implement cost-efficient, advanced access control.  Additionally, Kindoo provides locksmiths with a source of Recurring Monthly Revenue (RMR) so they can effectively grow their businesses with sustained income over time. Locksmiths can get more information and apply to become an authorized reseller by submitting a form on the Kindoo reseller webpage.

LL: How many existing resellers do you work with? And how much expansion are you planning?

MC: Kindoo has an established network of certified resellers in the North American market that we’re actively looking to expand upon. This provides a great opportunity for locksmiths to expand their portfolios with a modern access control solution that generates new sources of recurring monthly revenue (RMR). We will be building our sales network through the selection of qualified, forward-looking resellers who share our vision for growth; in turn, we will offer them the highest levels of support to ensure success in their regions of operation.

LL: How big is the existing reseller platform? How long has Kindoo been in place?

MC: Kindoo was founded in 2016. It is deployed in thousands of buildings and has over 150,000 active users. As per above, we are looking to expand our reseller network in North America with forward-looking sales partners.

LL: Can you explain a bit more about how the RMR works?

MC: Kindoo offers reseller partners a unique sales model for sustained profitability. Our unique model delivers three distinct avenues for sustained growth and revenue generation. Certified reseller partners earn strong margins on every piece of Kindoo hardware they sell and install, as well as commission on every Kindoo User Seat license purchased, generating a sustained source of RMR. Profits from permanent User Seat licenses are automatically credited to their Kindoo partner account. Kindoo installations can infinitely scale with additional doors and users, adding the potential for future commissions on the sale of products and additional RMR from the purchase of additional User Seat licenses. This represents a great opportunity for long-term passive profit generation.

LL: What is the installation process?

MC: Kindoo access control solutions are extremely fast and easy to install. For installation sites that already have some form of electronic locking device installed, Kindoo’s KIN D actuator can be retrofit to virtually any electronic door, gate, turnstile or elevator.  For doors without electronic locking devices, Kindoo surface mounted strikes provide a fast and easy solution. Any combination of pre-existing electronic locking devices retrofit with Kindoo KIN D actuators and Kindoo surface mounted strikes can be accommodated on the platform. Once the hardware installation(s) is completed, simply download the Kindoo App to create the new user site and setup Kindoo devices and set access schedules. A single door installation can be completed in minutes!

LL: Could you walk us through a typical small business application. Is it expandable as the business expands?

Here is a typical sequence of events to install and implement a Kindoo access control system for a small professional services company (doctor, lawyer, real estate, architect office):

  1. Retrofit KIN D actuator on existing electronic locking devices such as the front entrance and rear delivery door – OR – install Kindoo Surface Mounted Strikes at these door locations.
  2. Use the Kindoo App to set up the new site using 2 free permanent User Seats initially provided.
  3. Add the number of required permanent User Seats for employees and contractors as/if needed.
  4. Grant smartphone-based access to user admins so they can set up access schedules, monitor activity 24/7, and send custom alerts/messages when/if necessary.
  5. Assign purchased User Seats for employees, contractors, cleaning personnel… with access permissions that automatically expire according to preset dates.  User Seats can be reassigned to different individuals at any time by the customer at no additional cost. If additional User Seats are required on a temporary basis, the customer can lease them on a monthly basis as needed.

Additional doors can be added to the system at any time, including interior high security or sensitive locations such as storage or treatment rooms, earning added revenue from the commission on the sale of Kindoo devices and RMR from the addition of User Seats.

LL: What’s next for Kindoo?

MC: We are actively looking to expand our presence in the North American market. To accomplish this goal, we are actively recruiting new reseller partners and will be executing highly targeted marketing campaigns to various vertical markets to generate leads and new potential business for our certified reseller partners.
