Top Notch Distributors appoints Brian Pertman as President
Honesdale, PA – October 27, 2025 – Top Notch Distributors, the nation’s leading family-owned distributor of residential and commercial door hardware, has announced the appointment of Brian Pertman as president. Pertman becomes just the third president in the company’s 50-year history, following founder Chuck Jurgensen and current President & CEO Dave Prouty, who will continue in his role as CEO until his planned retirement in late 2026.
With nearly three decades of leadership experience across Stanley Black & Decker, Allegion, and Jeld-Wen, Pertman brings deep expertise in both manufacturing and distribution to the role. His career highlights include building eCommerce and digital marketing organizations that drove significant business growth, launching the Craftsman program in partnership with Lowe’s, and leading seamless business transitions during mergers and acquisitions.
“Having spent my entire career in and around residential and commercial construction, I have tremendous respect for the partnerships that drive our industry forward,” said Pertman. “Top Notch’s reputation for integrity, teamwork, and customer focus is exceptional, and I look forward to working closely with our employees, customers, and manufacturing partners to build on that strong foundation for the future.”
Founders Chuck and Wanda Jurgensen added, “Brian’s experience, leadership, and values align perfectly with the culture we’ve built at Top Notch over the past 50 years. His servant leadership approach and dedication to relationships make him the ideal person to carry our family legacy forward while guiding the company into its next chapter.”
Pertman’s leadership philosophy is centered on servant leadership — building trust and confidence through action and transparency — aligning closely with Top Notch’s core values: Integrity is Key; Team, Team, Team; Customer Connection; Take the Long View; and Celebrate the Day to Day. These guiding principles have supported the company’s growth from a barn-based business when it was founded in 1975 to a leading national distributor today.
As Top Notch celebrates its 50th anniversary, Pertman will focus on executing the company’s strategic plan, fostering profitable growth, and carrying forward the family legacy of integrity while guiding the organization into its next 50 years.
“Every conversation I had throughout the hiring process reinforced that Top Notch is a people-first organization,” Pertman said. “I’m eager to learn from and collaborate with our outstanding team while supporting the continued success of our customers and partners.”
