FlexStrong

Flexible Security recently unveiled an innovative residential door lock designed to absorb the energy from a forced entry, such as a kick or shouldering of a residential door.   There is a home invasion nearly every nine seconds in the United States, with the vast majority of those being perpetrated after the home or apartment door is forced open; usually from a kick.

The innovator is a former law enforcement officer who served for ten years on the Emergency Response Team.  After having kicked in many doors himself and investigated countless home invasions he was determined to create a lock that was inexpensive, easy to install, and effective.  He explained that the problem with door locks, deadbolts, doors and doorframes are they are too rigid and incapable of absorbing the amount of force even a small man can exert while kicking or shouldering a door.

The FlexStrong lock has a patent pending design that is capable of absorbing repeated blows.   The product is made of quality, heavy-duty materials with the shock absorbing device encased in steel.  The device can fit in the palm of your hand and is easy to install.

The lock was tested by a leading independent testing laboratory to be 800% more effective than a leading door lock and deadbolt at stopping forced entry.  The laboratory first tested a top selling door lock and deadbolt set secured to a leading exterior door and frame.  A 100-pound ram was used on a pendulum device with impact occurring where a typical person would kick a door, near the door knob area.  The ram broke through the door on the second impact, defeating both the door lock and deadbolt.  The FlexStrong lock was then installed and the door lock and deadbolt disengaged.  It took seventeen blows with the 100-pound ram before the FlexStrong lock was defeated.  The lock was able to absorb the energy of the impact and keep the door secure for sixteen consecutive blows.  What is interesting about this test is the fact that the lock had to absorb ALL of the energy of the ram.  In reality, the length of an individual’s leg dictates that there is a “sweet spot” of a few inches before the leg is straightened and loses all of its energy.
