Adams Rite Steel Hawk 4300
The patented Adams Rite Steel Hawk 4300 is a non-handed, electrified deadlatch designed for aluminum glass storefront doors. The Steel Hawk 4300 is a direct replacement for the AR 4500, 4700 and 4900 deadlatches, as it retrofits to the MS prep and is compatible with existing strike and trim.
Steel Hawk stainless steel latches have the patented two-way winged technology that will secure in or out swinging doors and protect against tampering including loiding. The Steel Hawk can be order with a cylinder backset of 31/32", 1-1/8" or 1-1/2". This Grade 1 deadlatch operates on 12, 16 or 24 VDC and is rated for continuous duty.

Stanley 6K and 7KC Grade 2 Lock Recall Alert
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, Office of Information and Public Affairs, Washington, D.C. 20207, on March 9, 2011, sent out Alert #11-725. The following product safety recall is voluntarily conducted by the firm in cooperation with the CPSC.
Stanley Security Solutions Inc. announces the recall of 6K and 7KC Series Grade 2 door locks. The latches can fail and the door cannot be unlocked from the inside, posing an entrapment hazard. This failure could lead to the inability to vacate a location in an emergency. Approximately 63,100 locks were installed between April 2010 and January 2011.

Chevrolet Volt Key
STRATTEC has introduced the 2011 Chevrolet Volt key, part number 5920157. The Volt is equipped with a PEPS (Passive Entry Passive Start) keyless ignition system. This five button fob has door lock and unlock, panic, plug to release the charging door and a temperature button for heating or cooling the vehicle. The Flip blade that comes mounted onto the fob is uncut. The code series is Z0001-Z6000.
2012 Hyundai Accent
The 2012 Hyundai Accent has a new lock mechanism and code series. The code series is T1001-T3500. The key is an internal two track. The depths of cut are stamped onto the tumblers. The deepest cut is a one and the shallowest cut is a five. The Kia part number for the key blank is 81996-1R00.
Tip Gauging Distance
Need to know roughly the distance from the edge of a backplate to a screw hole. Try using an adjustable razor knife. The blade can be moved in or out, setting the pointed tip at the center of the hole and the body of the knife at the edge of the backplate.
JMA USA has introduced a transponder equipped key blank that can be used to program all 2004-2011 Mazda vehicles using the 10100-12283 code series. The JMA USA TP20MAZ-20D.P2 can be used with the 2004 or later introduction Mazda 2, 3, 5, 6, CX-7, CX-9, Miata and RX8. At this time, no other aftermarket key blank manufacturer offers this transponder equipped key blank.
New FJM Security Padlocks
The Frank J. Martin Company has introduced their FJM Security Combination Padlock Series including all-weather, heavy duty padlocks and locker combination padlocks with master key override and code discovery.
The heavy duty, all weather combination padlocks are equipped with 0-99 dial, having 10,000 possible combinations. These padlocks do not have spring-loaded components. When the proper combination is dialed, the shackle simply releases. These reset able combination padlocks are available with short, long or shrouded shackles.

Kia Forte Issues
The code series for the 2010-2011 Kia Forte is the WD1001-WD3500. The manufacturer’s invoices are being marked only with the “D” and the code number. The “W” is not included. There is no “D” code series. Use the “WD” code series when cutting Kia Forte keys.
Bianchi has introduced their TK100 Universal Cloning Chip and has changed the part numbers for their two-piece clonable keys and horseshoe blades. The horseshoe blade changes were made to simplify the part numbers by using the characters coined into the center of the horseshoe blades.
For example, the old part number for the Ford 8-cut horseshoe blade was FD72U. The new part number is FD21U. The complete 2-piece key blank part number using the TK100 Universal Cloning Chip is FD21UTK100.
The Bianchi TK100 Universal Cloning Chip incorporates all of the capabilities of the TK24, TK40 and TK60 heads. The battery-less TK100 can be reprogrammed up to ten times on the same or different vehicles. The TK100 will clone fixed code, Texas Instruments Encrypted and Philips second generation Encrypted transponders. Since there is no battery, the electronics are sealed in epoxy.
The TK100 operates with the Bianchi 884 Decryptor Ultegra. It will not operate with the Repli-Code 7 TX, Repli-Code 7 TX + Decryptor, Quick Code or Smart Clone. However, these cloning machines can program the TK24, TK40 and TK60 heads.

Laminated Glass Windows
GM, Volvo and Audi have some vehicles equipped with laminated glass.
Chrysler has made a decision to equip their vehicles will laminated glass for all windows beginning with the 2011 model year. Ford began using laminated glass windshields in 1919, probably a result of a number of factors including lawsuits.
Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles will be equipped with laminated glass on an ongoing basis. At this point, the vehicles that are equipped are the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Chrysler 200 and 300, and the Dodge Durango, Charger and Avenger.
The good news is that laminated glass provides sound insulation and keeps the outside and inside layers of glass bonded when cracked or broken. The not good news is laminated glass is more expensive than tempered glass. Even more important is when laminated glass is nicked or chipped; it can run requiring the window be replaced.
Laminated glass can be identified by looking along the edge. There are two thinner pieces of glass sandwiched together upon an interlayer. Tempered glass is the entire thickness.
Important: In order to make it easier to identify the type of side window glass, many manufacturers are beginning to mark the side window glass with the words laminated glass when equipped.
2012 Ford Focus
According to available resources, the 2012 Ford Focus will be equipped with a sidewinder lock mechanism. This is an interesting change from when Ford Motor Company removed the side bar from their 8-cut lock mechanism.
CAR-OPENING TECHNIQUES : 1998-2003 Lexus RX300
This month we will offer recommended car-opening techniques for the 1998-2003 Lexus RX300. This four-door sport utility vehicle is equipped with bicycle style cables, requiring unlocking the vehicle using either the inside lock control rocker or the inside door handle. In 2004, the RX330 was introduced having the same basic design. Unlocking a 2004-10 RX330 can be unlocked with slight modification using the same tools.
Important: Be sure to remove the wedge prior to bringing the car opening tool into the passenger compartment. The additional stress that is placed onto the car opening tool and the glass by the wedge(s) can result in the breaking of the glass.
Be very careful when you contact the lock buttons or the inside door handle and surrounding areas. Too much force can result in scratching or marring the trim.
The following opening methods can be used to unlock the 1998-2003 Lexus RX300:
The Pro-Lok method uses the AO-34 “MCOT-Narrow” tool and a wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by inserting the wedge 11 inches from the front edge of the front passenger door window. Insert an AO33 “MCOT-Separator Tool” one inch from the front edge of the passenger door window with the tip facing rearward. Lower the tool and rotate the tip beneath the bottom of the window glass. Raise the tool until the tip just enters the passenger compartment.
Insert the AO-34 car opening tool into the door eight inches from the front edge of the window with the tip facing forward. Lower the tool into the door cavity until the curve is beneath the bottom of the window glass. Rotate the tool until the arch is on the passenger compartment side of the window glass. Remove the wedge.
Carefully lift the AO-34 until the tip is in the passenger compartment. Rotate the tool 90 degrees counterclockwise and manipulate the tip of the tool under the electric lock-unlock button. Carefully lift the tool to raise the button, unlocking the locking mechanism. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for removing the car opening tool.
The Slide Lock method uses the Frameless Window Tool™ and an inflatable wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Insert the wedge just above the midline of the rear edge of the front passenger door window frame. Insert the Frameless Window Tool between the inflatable wedge and the top rear corner of the front door frame. Manipulate the tool until the tip is wrapped around the inside door handle. Carefully pull on the tool to unlock the door locking mechanism and open the door.
The Steck Manufacturing method uses the BigEasy “Glo” and a wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by first inserting the wedge or inflatable wedge into the top corner of the door. Once the door has been wedged out, insert the BigEasy tool into the passenger compartment. Manipulate the tool to position the ninety degree bend tip against the lock-unlock rocker. Lever the tool over the inside door handle. Carefully pull back on the inside door handle to unlock the locking mechanism in order to open the door.
The Tech-Train Productions method uses the TT-1015 car-opening tool and two wedges to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Insert the two wedges eight inches apart just forward of the inside door handle. Carefully insert the TT-1015 car-opening tool between the wedges into the door cavity with the tip pointing towards the rear of the vehicle. Lower the tool until the upper curve of the tool is beneath the bottom of the glass. Rotate the tool slightly having the bend on the interior side of the glass. Stop immediately and remove the wedges. Note: Failure to remove the wedges can result is cracking or breaking the window glass.
Carefully raise the tool into the passenger compartment until the tip is visible. Manipulate the tool until the tip is against the inside lock control rocker. Use the tip of the tool to unlock the door locking mechanism.
Follow the manufacturers instructions for removing the car-opening tool.
The direction to rotate the 1998-2003 Lexus RX300 front passenger door lock plug to the unlocked position is counterclockwise.
