Automotive locksmiths can learn about the newest products at a variety of classes offered by manufacturers, distributors and locksmith associations. Most manufacturer websites also offer instructions and tutorials and even dedicated YouTube channels.  Here are some upcoming events.

llco / Advanced Diagnostics Hands-On Training at IML Utah

Join Intermountain Lock & Security Supply at its Utah Branch and learn more about Ilco & Advanced Diagnostics Products on May 23. Lunch Provided.

This course provides the following:

The first two hours will be at the IML Utah Branch. Students will then travel to Markosian Auto for 2 hours of hands-on exercises on a variety of vehicles.

KeylineUSA Automotive 101: June 22

Keyline USA Automotive 101 will be offered at the Southern Lock Expo June 22 in St. Petersburgh, FL. The two-hour class taught by Joy Skowron meets from 8 to 10 a.m. Following is the class description:

Are you new to Automotive Locksmithing and thinking of getting into the Automotive Market? If yes, this course is designed just for you. We’ll be covering the basics of transponders, key machines, and transponder programming. You’ll learn about the equipment needed to start saying “YES” to automotive requests and watch your business grow.

ALOA Tentative Class List: July 8-12

Just Cars Convention

Just Cars has grown to become the premiere annual automotive locksmithing event. The 2018 show was held April 5-8 in Orlando. It offers classroom training, hands-on intensive courses, vendor demos and stations that include Ignition Repair, Impressioning, Motorcycle Lock Servicing, GM Cluster Repair, and Transponder Dechipping-Reading- Cloning. In addition, EEPROM and high security programming were covered.

PureAuto

Lockmasters. PureAuto Key Generation course offers the student an exciting opportunity to learn the skills needed to generate an automotive key. This extended hands-on portion of the class includes a wide variety of tools that will enable the student to experience success and gain confidence. Learn to sight-read keys, use scopes to read wafers, impression, use of Determinators, Kobra readers, AccuReaders, Lishi 2-in-1 tools, progressioning, keys by code and more. This course is recommended for the locksmith who wishes to expand into automotive locksmithing, or learn how to better exploit their key generation skills.

The Automotive Transponders class covers Transponder systems made since 1996, programming procedures, key blanks, and tools for most transponder-equipped vehicles in North America. This will include the newest procedures and key blanks for the newest models. Learn about the CAN Systems and PROX systems. Includes information on programming and troubleshooting: GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Toyota, Mazda, Nissan, Mitsubishi, and VW/Audi.
