DORMA Goes to Extremes in Pennsylvania

Aug. 19, 2011

DORMA will appear in two Extreme Makeover: Home Edition shows this fall. Besides the Fayetteville, N.C. shoot, the EMHE crew visited Etters, Pa. in June to create a super-accessible home for Brian Keefer, an athlete paralyzed by a gymnastics injury. A DORMA Automatics product is in the upgrade; we'll tell you more around the air date (Sun., Sept 25, 2011).

EMHE's visit to this tiny Pennsylvania community created quite a stir. Because of limited space near the site, a staging area had to be placed half a mile away at the local high school. Heavy equipment was parked a quarter-mile away from the house at a golf course. Thousands of volunteers pitched in with the show's staff to complete the construction.

The Keefer home was transformed in just a week while the family enjoyed a vacation provided by EMHE. This ensured that the changes they'd see would deliver a maximum surprise.

The EMHE show produced in Etters is part of the program's ninth season.

Episodes air Sunday from 8:00 - 9:00 p.m., ET on ABC.
