SHDA Announces New Board, 2022 Date

The Security Hardware Distributors Association (SHDA) announced new officers, who will serve for the next year, and the date of the 2022 summit, which will return to its usual spring timeframe.

The following slate, approved unanimously at the SHDA business meeting in September 2021, will guide SHDA for the next year:

  • President: Rob Justen, Doyle Security Products
  • Vice President: Lance Johnsen, Hans Johnsen
  • Treasurer: Charlie Weaver, Accredited Locks
  • Past President: David Swartz, Southern Lock
  • Director: William Weaver, Accredited Locks
  • Director: Brad Ashley, Top Notch Distributors

SHDA’s 2022 Industry Advancement Summit is scheduled to take place in Frisco, Texas, April 24-29. Organizers of the 2022 summit plan to hold a belated 50th birthday bash for the association, which was established in 1971.

In September 2021, members gathered in Phoenix for the 50th Annual Industry Advancement Summit. SHDA members were eager to meet face-to-face with nearly 200 attendees at the Hilton Phoenix Resort at the Peak to reconnect — many for the first time — since the last in-person summit in May 2019.

“When it comes to building business relationships, nothing can compare with actually being across a table or side-by-side at a reception,” says David Swartz, 2019-2021 SHDA president and Southern Lock’s chief operations officer. “The Industry Advancement Summit is designed to maximize the ability for distributors and manufacturers to forge new connections and strengthen existing ties.”

Banner Solutions, Flake Merge E-Commerce Sites

Seven months after their merger was announced, Banner Solutions and H.L. Flake have combined their e-commerce operations. All products sold by the combined distribution companies can be found at BannerSolutions.com.

The updated site promises:

  • Mobile-friendly and fast searching of thousands of SKUs.
  • Year, make and model search for keys, remotes and Lishi tools.
  • Options for multiple logins for one company.

Travis Howell of Banner Solutions notes that the Flake website had been in operation since 2006 and that customers would enjoy a faster and more robust search and five times the number of products that Flake had offered.
