Saffire LX Smart Locks Streamline Multihousing Operations

Multihousing properties now have the option of issuing mobile credentials for added resident convenience. The new Saffire LX Series from dormakaba combines sophisticated radio-frequency ID (RFID) technology in a contemporary design. Easy to use, flexible and secure, the Saffire LX Series enhances access control convenience for residents and improves operational efficiency for property managers.

“Saffire was designed specifically for multihousing properties and can be retrofitted into any environment,” says Thomas Bowles, dormakaba’s Global Multihousing Project leader. “It combines high performance with aesthetics for a seamless look throughout the property, regardless of door function or architectural requirements.”

Available in a suite of versatile models, including mortise, deadbolt, interconnect, cylindrical and panic devices, the Saffire LX Series harmonizes with progressive building technology and amenities, including the option of issuing mobile, fob, wristband or keycard credentials. Key advantages include:

  • Enables mobile access that allows residents to use their smart devices to enter their residence, as well as perimeter, elevator, parking and other common areas, securely.
  • Is available with elegant fascia colors, finishes and lever selections, making it versatile to complement any decor.
  • Meets UL 10C and ULC S-104 on fire doors rated up to and including 3 hours.
  • Comes standard with no-touring for increased efficiency.
  • Lowers maintenance costs, because the lock operates with a completely sealed, contactless reader, and batteries last up to 2 years under normal operation.
  • Works as a completely scalable solution with panic bars, parking gates and electronic access.
  • Integrates with market-leading property-management providers for smart-apartment solutions.

The Saffire LX Series is managed by dormakaba Community access management software. Community provides intuitive access management of residences, amenities, common areas and perimeters from a single platform. It also provides the convenience of RFID credentials and Bluetooth Low Energy mobile access keys for a seamless experience, with no need for additional software.

ABLOY Competence Center Meets Customer Demand

ABLOY USA is providing more customer satisfaction by supporting the digital transformation of high-security solutions since opening its U.S. Competence Center in 2020. A dedicated team of experienced professionals is available 24/7 to provide technical expertise and fill orders for ABLOY PROTEC2 CLIQ locks and key systems and the new ABLOY BEAT, a keyless solution introduced in March 2020 that combines a novel digital key, a mobile app and an IP68-rated Bluetooth padlock.

Jerry Burhans, managing director of ABLOY USA, says the Competence Center will prove to be invaluable for customers and the coast-to-coast distributor channel partners network.

“The new ABLOY Competence Center in Irving, Texas, proves our commitment to the United States critical infrastructure markets that we are willing to invest in supporting your detailed applications and integrations quickly, thoroughly and locally,” Burhans says. “We believe the ABLOY CLIQ and ABLOY BEAT technologies will flourish in the coming months and years with this kind of support available.”

Michael Woody, ABLOY customer service & CLIQ Competence Center manager, believes one of the hallmarks the team can deliver is unparalleled service.

“We are looking to make the Competence Center a complete unit of excellence for all ABLOY products,” he says. “Every team member contributes with their select skill set. This way, we have implemented policies and process flows and offer solutions that best suits our Voice of Customer concept. By doubling our production space with all-new workstations, we can now handle complete production of CLIQ systems from small to large.”

Woody indicates his team is up to any challenge that’s directed their way. One of the biggest tests Woody says the team has encountered is working through the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The COVID-19 crisis has disrupted every aspect of daily life, operations and support,” he says. “We typically do the majority of CLIQ training sessions on site or here in Irving. At this time, we have suspended them for safety reasons, but we have been resourceful and have developed other options. These include the use of videoconferencing platforms, like Skype, Zoom, Microsoft Teams and WebEx.”

SDC Standalone Door Control and Privacy Function

The SDC EntryCheck E75 Privacy is a low-cost, indoor/outdoor, standalone electronic battery-powered solution, providing controlled access for basic and multilevel high-security requirements. It’s perfect for new or retrofitting coffeehouse, fast-food, service-station or convenience-store restroom facilities, with no wiring or power supplies required. It also is a cost-effective addition to educational or corporate campuses to provide a privacy function to board rooms, counseling rooms and meeting spaces.

Customers or employees receive an access code to type in on the keypad to access the room and simply push the inside red button when the door is closed to activate the privacy function. The red outside LED flashes to indicate the room is occupied. The privacy function is deactivated when the person turns the inside lever to leave, and the lock is ready again for another user.

Signage clearly indicates status and function, so no user instructions are required. Management can override the privacy function with a key or master code in case of emergency or to clear the room of occupants who overstayed their welcome. A prox-reader version also is available.

New Solution Joins Paxton’s Video Entry Line

Paxton Access Inc. has added to its video-intercom product line by launching its next-generation standard monitor — the Entry Standard monitor.

Designed with simplicity in mind, this versatile monitor provides a feature-rich and cost-effective solution for a range of applications — from schools and hospitals to offices and apartments.

Excellent audio quality, full-duplex voice communication and a clear user interface on a 4.3-inch capacitive touchscreen make it the ideal solution for users. The monitor can be installed quickly on a wall or desk-mounted with or without a handset.

The premium user interface with call and event log can be personalized easily, with 14 different theme designs. A smart new call-snapshot feature enables you to see your missed calls, so you never miss a visitor.

The Entry Standard video intercom system consists of three components that auto-detect on setup: external panel, interior monitor and door control unit. This monitor is a plug-and-play solution that can be used with a range of panel options — standard, premium and vandal-resistant — making the entire system flexible for a wide variety of sites.

The Entry Standard video intercom system is fully compatible with Paxton’s cutting-edge Net2 networked access control system but works as a standalone solution, too. It comes with Paxton’s industry-leading five-year warranty.

When integrating Entry Standard video intercom with Paxton’s Net2 access control system, the standard monitor has action buttons that give customers an additional layer of control with functionality, such as opening other doors on the system or unlocking external gates.

“The second-generation Entry Standard monitor blends contemporary aesthetics with high-quality materials and clean user interface,” says Jeremy Allison, Paxton’s senior product manager. “Designed to fit into any environment with a variety of different themes, it allows the user to personalize the monitor to suit their tastes.”

The Entry Standard monitor is available to purchase from Paxton’s approved U.S. distributors. Paxton is introducing its latest solutions to the market via a free 45-minute installer and  integrator webinar.
