In Memorian: SDC Remembers Dwayne Johnson

June 20, 2016

CAMARILLO, CA – June, 2016 – SDC’s (Security Door Controls) unexpectedly lost friend and longtime employee, Dwayne “DJ” Johnson, age 47, after a sudden health event on Sunday, June 12th. Dwayne began his security industry career at SDC in August, 1998, and contributed greatly to the company’s success and reputation for integrity and service among door hardware and security rep companies and distributors.

“We truly lost a brother,” asserts Shane Geringer, SDC’s Vice President of Marketing, Sales, and Strategic Development. “As SDC entered the 21st century, Dwayne was able to help us grow and navigate the new market realities and technology demands he encountered in the field. We all grew up together and he will be sorely missed by the many customers he turned into friends and especially his extended family here at SDC.”

Following service in the U.S. Navy, Dwayne was initiated into the security industry with his first assignment in the customer service department at SDC. While there, he gained an expert knowledge of the daily challenges faced by security dealers and installers when specifying and applying electric and electronic door control solutions to door access and egress compliance. He parlayed this knowledge over to the sales side of the business for SDC, ultimately becoming the Eastern Sales Manager – responsible for all major accounts, distributors and security and hardware representatives east of the Mississippi.

“He was a big man, yet always gentle and caring in his approach to people. He left big shoes to fill,” concluded Geringer.

Dwayne is fondly remembered for his smile, love of football and affection for his beloved dogs. He is survived by his wife Debra, his mother Sharon, his brother Dave, and many aunts, uncles, cousins loving family and friends. Services were held Saturday, June 18.
