Biometric Selling Points

ZKAccess  offers some tips and training on the benefits, installation, operation and maintenance of biometric systemsMany end users today, particularly iPhone & Galaxy phone users, are being exposed to fingerprint recognition technology and its many benefits. Savvy security professionals are choosing to proactively educate themselves on biometric best practices, rather than waiting for their clients to do it for them.

Selling points for biometric access control installations include:

Fingerprint readers on computers mean never again worrying about forgetting your password or having it stolen.

Fingerprint readers on doors mean never again having to worry about accidentally getting locked out because you forgot your keys.

Fingerprint readers prevent employees from sharing their access keys/badges with unauthorized parties.

Face readers on doors mean hands-free door access for gloved workers (healthcare staff, construction workers, mechanics, etc.) as well as anyone whose hands are full while carrying boxes, packages, etc.

Face readers are ideal for prison guards who need door access while holding onto a prisoner with one hand.

Biometrics can safeguard dangerous electrical equipment (compactors, forklifts, etc.) from unauthorized start-up by requiring an authorized fingerprint before start up.

Biometrics reduces retail-shrink by preventing unauthorized access to cash rooms and stock rooms.

ZKAccess' three CEU-accredited course, Advanced Biometric Access Control, is designed to teach physical security integrators all they need to know to successfully migrate from traditional card access systems to biometricsIt provides in-depth knowledge on how biometrics works and explains the added security and convenience that biometrics provides.

Universal Car Keys Named “Best New Product”

Universal Car Keys, the newest product release from Solid Keys USA, was voted “Best New Product” at the 2015 Automotive Aftermarket Product Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas last month. AAPEX is North America's largest international aftermarket trade fair.

“We’re glad we did as well as we had hoped. There were hundreds of great products competing, but the Universal Car Key is such a unique and special product that we knew it would be a hit. We’re glad the AAPEX panel of buyers recognized our unique value proposition. Universal Car Keys and Universal Car Remotes bring automotive key replacement back into the hands of retailers and repair professionals, something that’s been absent for decades.” said Mark Lanwehr, President, Solid Keys USA.

AAPEX represents the $477 billion global aftermarket auto parts industry, and is co-owned by the Auto Care Association and the Automotive Aftermarket Suppliers Association (AASA), the light vehicle aftermarket division of the Motor & Equipment Manufacturers Association (MEMA).

In 2014, Solid Keys introduced its Universal Car Remote, auniversal keyless entry remote covering 20 car brands.

With Universal Car Keys, hundreds of “remotehead” keys are combined into just a few keys. Stocking a few keys to cover millions of vehicles results in a dramatic reduction of inventory, helping shift lucrative automotive key replacement business back to retailers and repair professionals.

Solid Keys USA is a division of iKeyless LLC, a privately held technology company based in Louisville, KY. iKeyless specializes in the design, development, and distribution of automotive keys, keyless entry remotes, and related technologies. More Info: www.SolidKeysUSA.com

Automobile Security?

Locksmith Ledger editors sometimes come across some questionable security fixes when out in the field, and this DIY trunk lock solution is one of them! The driver of this older Buick sedan is a contractor who was looking for safe tool storage, and his trunk lock was broken. So he came up with his own solution, adding this hasp and padlock and a matching set on the other corner of the trunk. It seems like visiting his local lockshop would have been a much better solution than drilling through the metal trunk to screw on the hasps, which are rusting.
