Southern Security Expo

Southern Security Expo is poised to be the largest security industry trade show in the Southeast and is the only event that unites the entire security channel from locksmith to security integrator. Southern Security Expo showcases the latest products, services and technology that help to ensure safety by giving attendees the right tools and defenses to protect against security risks. It will include access control, video surveillance, network security products, wireless security products and thousands more. It’s hosted by the South Carolina Locksmith Association.

Following is the lineup of educational classes on Friday, Oct. 1:

9  – 11; Alarm Lock – Introduction to the Alarm Lock Product Line including Trilogy 2, Trilogy 3, Networx and our latest technology, Air Access. 

9:15 – 9:45: The Vernon Company – Branding and Marketing  

9:15 – 9:45: dormakaba – Eplex and Simplex 

10 – 11: dormakaba – Key Scan – Traditional Wired Access Control 

10 – 11: Entrematic – Door Automation 101 In this one-hour class, you will get an overview of the full menu of low-energy door operators that Entrematic offers. We will discuss specific applications, which operators to use in those situations and how to maximize your margins. View a brief installation video on the brand new tech-savvy HA7, which can transform virtually any door from manual to modern. Finally, we will discuss different activation options.

10 – 11: Anixter – Intro to Northern Video Students will learn about Northern Video IP Cameras and NVRs. There will be hands on learning, connecting cameras, setting up the NVR, etc. Northern Cable and Fiber will also be covered.

10 – 11:30: CompX Security Products – How to upsell keyless locks from traditional mechanical locks.

10 – noon, 1:45 – 3:45 or 4 – 6: HES – Hands on strike cutting class Students will be shown the easiest techniques for cutting and installing an electric strike into a hollow metal door frame. Cutting tool selection and use of the HES metal template kit is demonstrated. Students will be allowed to individually measure and cut in a strike.

11:15 – 12:15: Keri Solutions – Access Control Product Overview  

11:15 – 12:15: LifeSafety Power – Networked Access Control Power Solutions The class will focus on networked power solutions to provide a better understanding of the real-time data and intelligence available to augment your access control installations. Integrators and end users will learn how a LifeSafety Power solution create efficiencies never seen before and will provide information on how critical systems are performing, with analytics that capture a snapshot of the health and status of power at a single location or enterprise, significantly increasing uptime. In addition, attendees will learn the benefits of standardized solutions through LSP’s prewired and ready-to-install UL/ULC ProWire solutions.

1:45 – 2:15: Brivo – Product Overview  

1:45 – 3:45 and 4 – 6: Ilco – Automotive Diagnostic Equipment Overview – Advanced Diagnostics tool overview with application and real-time demonstrations 

1:45 – 5:45: American Key Supply – Automotive Key Programming featuring the Auto Propad G2 and the IM 608

1:45 – 5:45: AKG Academy’s Lishi Class – Bill Youngson and Donnie Sherfield Lishi is a class designed to teach the basics of lock picking with Lishi. Learning how to use these tools the correct way will create more success and unlock additional income opportunities. **ALOA Certifications can be purchased for $20 on site upon completion.  

1:45 – 5:45: Banner Solutions – Low Energy Operator Design This class will cover basic design concepts for surface-mounted low-energy operator systems, covering the opening and closing motion of a door. Our training will help build confidence in retrofitting into existing doors and frames as well as new construction.
