Installation

Photos xx and xx show the lock bolt, top and bottom. On the deadbolt portion, you’ll notice a little stamp that says “UP.” Make sure that portion goes up and make sure you set it to the correct backset. There are 2 ¾-inch and 2 3/8-inch options. You simply twist the bolt to select. Then screw it down into place.

We’re going to be installing on a demo block for a clear view of what’s going on.

Next, align the tailpiece in the vertical position, both on the lock bolt which will throw the lock bolt and the tailpiece itself.

Then we will run the wires through the bottom portion of the backplate. We will bring everything together using the black screws on a normal standard thickness door. The Lockly Visage is the only lock that I’m aware of that includes a thick door kit.

Make all the wire connections and tuck everything into place. That smaller connection is going to tuck right into the bottom of the lock, and the larger connection is designed to get stuffed back into the void in the door so that the lock can sit flat.

You’ll notice the little groove cut out for the door position sensor (DPS). Make sure that the wire goes through there and that it’s not pinched in any way, shape or form and that you have enough wire to reach from the DPS to the edge of the door.

Once you have that in place, use the four short screws and screw the back of the lock onto the mounting plate.

Make sure that you have your battery fully charged and orientated in the correct position. Plug it into the lock itself. It’s a good idea to make sure you have a battery pack charged at all times because these are not going to come fully charged. (The lock comes with two rechargeable battery packs that Lockly says will last up to 8 months between charges.)

Photo xx shows the programming button. As soon as you have everything installed and the battery connected, go ahead and press the programming button. Hold it for a few seconds and it will hand and orientate the lock.

Wake up the keypad, using the code 1-2-3-4-5-6, the factory-installed code, and make sure it is working. Then insert the key. I always like to test the key for function to make sure that the key works nicely and smoothly. Also test the thumbturn.

Next, we’ll install the protection plate, which goes over the keypad. The included QR code above the lock gives your customer the opportunity to use it as an intercom.

For programming, register your face, along with your fingerprint, and set up a master code. Do this all by downloading the app and then scanning the QR code and getting everything lined up where it needs to be. Fill out the warranty sheet and everything else included with the Lockly Visage.
