As part of the Swedish ASSA ABLOY Group, the German company ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH belongs to the world's largest security technology concern. Besides the comprehensive system solutions made in Germany using products from its IKON and effeff brands¸ ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH is also known for its effeff quality strikes.

effeff strikes guarantee a high level of security and convenience as well as provide a suitable design for every type of installation. In the certified strike and safety strike sector, the effeff brand excels with its sophisticated solutions for smoke protection doors, fire protection doors and escape route doors. The extensive product range for strict safety requirements provides solutions for glass doors, sliding doors and cleanroom doors as well as for doors in potentially explosive areas. In addition to standard strikes, effeff also offers strikes for special uses which are tailored to the customer's specific needs.

This German company with its head office in Albstadt has been active on the American market for over 25 years and has made a name for itself with premium quality products made in Germany . effeff has marketed and enhanced its ANSI range, the 76 series, for the U.S. market and is now bringing out its brand-new innovative World Strike. Without the need for cut outs, installation is faster and more cost efficient.

effeff's World Strike is a completely new product which will change the face of the electric strike market. The great advantage of this patented strike lies in its handling and fitting - quick and easy to install without having to cut or drill the frame. Installers simply replace the standard mechanical plate with the new World Strike – no filing or cutting is necessary. A further benefit is gained from its relatively small lock case size, leading to increased door frame stability.

World Strike is designed for both heavy-duty and standard applications with the all-in-one 77-54 offering dual voltage and field-selectable, fail-safe/fail secure operation. A deep latch cavity accommodates cylindrical locksets with a 5/8“ to 3/4“ throw in metal, wood, or aluminium frames.

“effeff's World Strike saves time and money! Whereas before installers had to carry out complicated, time-consuming modifications to the door frame, they can now replace the standard mechanical plate with the new World Strike in no time at all. Fitting has become child's play,” says Jay Denniss of IDW West, Phoenix .

In addition to functionality, elegant design is also of prime importance. For architects and planners, besides perfect technical function, one of the most important features for a successful product is good design, and this is also true for door strike products. The particular advantage of World Strike for architects and planners is its concealed assembly. If the door is closed, the strike cannot be seen. “This is not the case with competitors' models,” says Denniss.

All World Strikes come with stainless steel faceplate, have fire certification and are UL tested. They can be supplied with an adjustable keeper and monitoring as optional extras and are tested to grades 1, 2 and 3 certifications. Different striking plates are also available for World Strike, enabling it to be used in wooden, aluminum and steel doors and remain concealed to optimum effect.

World Strike is compatible with all major cylindrical locks. Mortise lock applications will be available late 2007.

effeff was founded in 1936 as a workshop for precision engineering and electrical technology and today is the world leader in the electro-mechanical locking technology market. Electric strikes, electric bolts, safety locks, access control systems, electromagnets, escape route technology, door automatics, arrestor systems for fire protection stops and control elements are among the effeff products which are exported from Albstadt in Germany's Swabian Alps to over 75 countries worldwide.

After merging with one of Germany's leading manufacturers of lock cylinders, locks and locking systems, ZEISS IKON AG in Berlin, IKON and effeff ‘s company name was changed to ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH in 2005. Since that time the IKON and effeff brands have developed, produced and marketed products together in a single company with their different product ranges complementing each other. The ASSA ABLOY Sicherheitstechnik GmbH is thus able to offer its customers comprehensive, complex system solutions for the private, commercial and public sectors.
