NEW YORK, NY (August 6, 2013) – Architects, engineers, and specifiers now have a go-to online resource for builders hardware product information. The Builders Hardware Manufacturers Association (BHMA) has transformed its website with a Web-based BHMA Certified Products Directory that now allows users to access to product listings by category, company name, or keyword search; and launched a new, downloadable “Hardware Highlights” feature that delivers snapshot summaries of the industry’s standards for 25 hardware products.
“The BHMA website now offers industry professionals the list of certified products that they want and need in a robust, user-friendly format,” said BHMA President Sandy Johnson. “The BHMA Certified Products Directory, now updated daily, quickly links architects, specifiers, distributors and other building and construction professionals to commercial hardware products, with model numbers, that is certified to perform to the standards specified for their projects.
“Hardware Highlights” is a new BHMA feature that replaces the association’s previous “Standards At-a-Glance.” More graphic and easier to read, “Hardware Highlights” summarizes the scopes of 23 key product standards, with examples of the methods of testing and the levels required to achieve BHMA certification.
Johnson also noted, “All of these features can be accessed by mobile devices, making it even more convenient and portable.”
The new BHMA website is an excellent resource for all levels, from young professionals to industry veterans. With a guide to common terminology and helpful member resources, it’s a useful tool for those outside the industry or professionals who are just getting started. BHMA’s digital presence also allows information to be quickly updated in real time.
BHMA has been writing specifications for builders hardware for nearly 50 years and its ranks include 80 percent of U.S. builders hardware manufacturers, making the association the industry authority on testing, specifying, and grading hardware.
“Two clear directives from our recent surveys of Web site users were to expand the information available online and to construct a searchable directory that will help organize hundreds of certified product listings,” Johnson said. “Our certification program assures that hardware has been tested to perform in compliance with the product standard. BHMA assures access to critical information and the most current certified products is online and accessible across mobile and tablet platforms.”
