Squire Expands North American Distribution with IML Security Supply

SHDA introduction leads to new partnership with 60-year security distributor

St. Louis  – Squire Locks USA has entered into a new distribution partnership with IML Security Supply, expanding the company’s growing professional security channel and providing greater access to Squire commercial padlock solutions across the Western and Central United States.

The relationship grew directly from conversations at SHDA 2026, where IML Vice President of Sales Jon Skinner and his team were introduced to Squire’s commercial padlock range. Several of the products immediately stood out as potential additions to IML’s offering for locksmith and security customers.

“We are happy to work with such a historic company and to be a part of Squire’s strategy in the United States,” said Skinner. “I’m looking forward to introducing the Squire line to our customers and collaborating with their team to develop the market.”

Founded in Salt Lake City in 1966 as Intermountain Lock & Supply Co., IML is celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026. The company has grown into a major wholesale security distributor with an expanding branch network serving locksmith and security professionals across much of the United States. Its product offering spans locksmith supplies, door hardware, access control, video and related security technologies.

The partnership also brings together two companies with long histories in the security industry. While IML marks six decades in business, Squire’s family lock-making heritage dates to 1780 in England.

“IML is a critical distributor partner we have been looking for as we build Squire across North America,” said Jerry Burhans, president of Channel Championz, Squire’s North American commercial representative. “They have the reach, the inventory and the technical credibility, but they also know how to introduce a new line and get it in front of customers. Our job is to match that commitment with training, branch support activity and feet on the street so this becomes much more than simply putting another line on a shelf.”

That field support will be led by Jackson Burhans, Squire’s new National Account Manager, who has already begun working with IML’s Kansas City team and introducing Squire to customers in the market. Going forward, he will support branch activity, customer outreach, product education and regional events as the program expands.

“We’re already seeing good engagement in Kansas City,” said Jackson Burhans. “My focus is to keep that momentum going, helping IML’s branches get the products in front of the right customers and supporting the opportunities that can turn interest into business.”

IML’s strong emphasis on training and events is expected to play an important role in the partnership. The distributor conducts an extensive schedule of regional training programs and IML Security Expos, giving manufacturers direct opportunities to introduce products, educate locksmiths and work alongside IML sales personnel.

Squire’s commercial portfolio includes mechanical keyed and resettable combination padlocks engineered for professional, industrial and critical infrastructure applications. Product families such as Stronghold® and Vulcan® combine heavy-duty construction with features including hardened boron alloy shackles, corrosion-resistant designs, multiple keying options and independently tested high-security models.

The companies are now coordinating the initial product mix, product information and launch support needed to introduce Squire throughout the IML organization.

“For Squire, building distribution is only part of the job,” added Burhans. “We also have to create demand and give locksmiths a reason to take a closer look at the products. IML gives us an outstanding platform to do that, and Jackson gives us someone who can stay connected with their people and customers in the field.”
