LYNCHBURG, Va., June 26 -- The city of Lynchburg issued the following press release:
Over the past several weeks, the Lynchburg Police Department has been contacted by citizens with concerns regarding the door-to-door sales of home security alarm systems in the City of Lynchburg. Police Department and Emergency Communications Center staff would like to provide citizens with the following information regarding door to door sales of home security alarm systems:
* Anyone selling alarms systems in the City of Lynchburg must have a local business license and a Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS) license. If you have a salesman come to your door selling alarm systems make sure you get them to show you their DCJS license before conducting business with them.* You are under no obligation to speak to a salesman or to provide any personal information and you have the right to ask the salesman to leave your property if you are not interested in the product.
* Take your time to make the right decision for your home security. Don't be tempted by offers that are "good for one day only." Consider getting several estimates & compare pricing.
