Larry Kern, director of sales wholesale for ASSA ABLOY and longtime Locksmith Ledger editorial board member and adviser, died early Monday morning July 19th of cardiac failure. He was with his loving wife Liz at the time.
Born on Dec. 26, 1950, Larry started in the security industry as an independent sales rep in 1985 and in the 25 years since has worked with Master Lock, Fort Lock and Kaba before starting with Securitron in 2003 as national sales mManager. Just over one year ago Larry was promoted to the role of director of sales wholesale for all of ASSA ABLOY in the United States.
”Larry was a wonderful person who lived life fully and reveled in all aspects from his work to his classic cars and most importantly to his friends and family. He was a larger than life personality who will be deeply missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him,” says Scott M. Baker, president, Assa Abloy EMS & OEM Group.
A celebration of life will be held Tuesday July 27, at 10 a.m., Lima Family Mortuary, 466 N. Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara, CA, 95050. It will be followed by a reception at noon at the American Legion Post 564 Hall, 2120 Walsh Ave., Santa Clara, CA 95050.
In addition to his wife Elizabeth, Larry leaves behind a son Steve, Steve’s wife Lea, his 2 year old grandson Hayes, a daughter Amy, Amy’s husband Kevin, and a 5 year granddaughter Lauren. Larry is also survived by his mother, two sisters, a brother, their families and two step sons and families with whom he was very close.
