The Schlage BE365 electronic keypad deadbolt has earned a prestigious Best Buy rating from Consumers Digest magazine in the residential deadbolt lock category. In the article "Peace of Mind: Top-Notch Door Locks and Safes," which appears in the February 2010 issue, the lock received the magazine's "Economy Selection" rating for providing value to cost-conscious consumers at its suggested retail price of $119.
"The BE365 is the toughest model that is on the market at this price because of its heavy-duty manual knob," the editors wrote. "Other keypad locks use a motor drive to extend and retract the bolt, which can shorten the life of the batteries; this model relies on you to move the bolt." The article also noted that the BE365 accepts up to 19 separate four-digit codes-more than other comparably priced units-which enables each family member to have a different code.
"We are honored to receive a Consumers Digest Best Buy rating for the Schlage BE365 keypad lock," said Dwight Gibson, Vice President and General Manager, Connected Home Solutions for Ingersoll Rand, the parent company of Schlage. "As a leader in the development of keypad locks, it is rewarding to have one of our products achieve this prestigious recognition."
The Schlage BE365 keypad deadbolt features a patented commercial-grade clutching motor drive that is tested to one million cycles, a free-spinning deadbolt turn to resist vandalism and a mechanical-key override. For added security, a warning beep sounds and the keypad is disabled for 30 seconds if an incorrect code is entered four times and a 6-digit programming code is required to add and delete user codes.
