Enterprise Access Control

April 8, 2014

Linear, LLC introduces Linear Enterprise, a browser-based, embedded network appliance and access control system available through select Linear dealers and equipped for large-scale installations. Enterprise offers remote management, low total cost of ownership (TCO), an easy path to VMS integration, and a unique license key system that makes integration and expansion easier than ever.

"Enterprise is Linear's premium offering in the access control category, so we are offering exclusivity to top dealers who have experience handling the complexities of large installations. It was discussed in our 2013 dealer council meetings and we're happy with the initial feedback," said Duane Paulson, senior vice president of product and market development for Linear.

Linear's Remote Management Console (RMC) gives Enterprise "Dealership" partners a competitive advantage. RMC is a unique embedded secure remote connectivity technology that allows dealers to provide secure offsite management for one or many systems without having a server in the cloud. RMC back-end capabilities complement a market leading system architecture designed to drive RMR and add-on sales. More important, the technology gives end users the ability to make immediate changes even when an emergency arises and loss of internet occurs.

Enterprise includes everything an organization needs for comprehensive security and access control. Linear's solid-state design lowers TCO by removing many of the license fees, simplifying installation, lowering hardware costs and providing a flexible and secure Linux system at the core. There are no monthly cloud service fees, no client and database license fees, and no need for dedicated PC workstations. Plus, the pre-activated remote management console opens up RMR opportunities and provides feature rich security and access control management.

To simplify the integration of cameras, badging, visitor management, asset tracking, lighting/HVAC control, alarms and more, Linear created License-to-Go™. The new licensing system expedites access control expansion and upgrades while providing easy up-sell opportunities for Linear Enterprise dealers and providing a valuable supply chain proposition by levering multi-function license keys. Scalability up to 4-360 door / 720 readers future-proofs the system for multiple sites and high transaction volumes as a client grows.

Elevator control, anti-passback, threat level status, partitioning, custom reports, administrative audit trails, and an array of video, viewing and other features can be managed fluidly through Enterprise's intuitive dashboard. Multiple, at-a-glance status indictators, graphic floor plans, an event log, a video verification window and more can all be monitored simultaneously. Since the remote management license is included, users can also control the Enterprise system right out of the box with a mobile device.

"The Enterprise system allows dealers to take advantage of as many sales as opportunities as possible because of its licensing structure and ability to integrate with a wide range of new and existing technology," said Duane Paulson, senior vice president of product and market development for Linear. "We incorporated everything a future-proofed access control system would need and made it easy to install and affordable to maintain, with RMR potential."
