16-Channel Network Video Recorder

July 18, 2012

Toshiba's new Surveillix ESV16 Linux-based embedded network video recorder (NVR) is a flexible, highly-scalable network appliance with support for up to 16 IP cameras and 12TB of removable hard-drive storage, along with maximum data transfer rates of 250 Mbps.

As a standalone surveillance system, the ESV16 delivers simultaneous monitoring, recording, and playback with compatibility for hundreds of IP camera models and all ONVIF compliant devices. Audio and video streams encoded in H.264, MPEG4 or MJPEG formats can be recorded.

The ESV16's unique cube shape has internal bays for up to four HDDs totaling 12TB, helping network administrators achieve cost-efficient scalability to meet growing security requirements. Storage can be further extended through an external eSATA connection. Multiple ESV16 units can be deployed within a network to build a larger system.
