M100 Aperio eCylinder with Prox earns 2014 GOOD DESIGN for Protective Equipment

SALEM, Va. (February 3, 2015) – The Medeco M100 Aperio Cylinder with Prox recently earned the 2014 GOOD DESIGN Award for Protective Equipment, further certifying Medeco as world leaders in locking systems. The prestigious award is presented to products recognized as the most innovative and cutting-edge solutions produced around the world.

"This award demonstrates our strong commitment to not just innovation but also to quality, aesthetics and design,” Brad Smith, Medeco Marketing Director, said. “This is the fourth award we've earned for this product, further showcasing our ability to combine the latest in security technology with wireless access technology from Aperio."

Each year, the Chicago Athenaeum Museum presents the GOOD DESIGN awards program to recognize the year’s most groundbreaking industrial, product and graphic designs from around the world. Now in its 65th year, GOOD DESIGN is the oldest and most recognized program for design excellence worldwide.

The Medeco Aperio M100 eCylinder with Prox technology offers an easy retrofit solution for mechanical door hardware, adding access control to any door by simply swapping out the existing mechanical cylinder. Local wireless communication between the M100 and an Aperio hub connects to an existing EAC system, eliminating the cost and inconvenience of bringing wiring to the door.
