Detex Battery-Powered Door Prop Alarm System Key For Campus Security

Battery powered alarm system ideal for retrofitting situations in older educational facilities

Detex Corporation offers battery-powered alarm systems that guard against propping doors open. For educational facilities, the system assures that doors left open by mistake or intent won’t defeat the whole security system.

The EAX-300 Door Prop Alarm can be field-set for door prop times ranging from one second to four minutes, with a 15-second default.  After the time selected, a 100-decibel alarm alerts staff, then silences when the door is closed so there is no need to wait for a key-holder to arrive.  The alarm is powered by a 9-volt battery and has a low battery/LED alert.

“Detex also offers hard-wired alarms, but the battery-powered system has the advantage of not requiring electrical connections,” said Ken Kuehler, marketing manager for Detex. “It’s more economical to install, and is especially useful for retrofitting situations in older educational facilities.”

The Door Prop Alarm can work together with Detex Lockdown Systems or Tailgate Detection Systems to provide a greater level of protection for students and staff.  The EX-300 is also available in a weatherized version.

A USA company, Detex designs, manufactures, markets and ships its products from New Braunfels, Texas.
