Founders Award goes to a successful family business that has grown and adapted to present and future markets while maintaining the identity and original concept of the founder

Nov. 15--The Saucedo Co., a 96-year-old, family-owned locksmith company in Central El Paso, last week received the Founders Award from the Baylor University Institute for Family Business in Waco, the company announced.

The Founders Award, one of 11 awards given annually to Texas businesses, goes to a successful family business that has grown and adapted to present and future markets while maintaining the identity and original concept of the founder, the institute reported.

"Our family name has become synonymous with locks and security," David Saucedo II, fourth-generation owner of the Saucedo Co., said in a statement. The award "reflects the dedication we have given our business throughout the decades . . . ."

The Baylor awards go to Texas businesses whose families have a commitment to each other, to business continuity, and who are responsive to the needs of their employees, communities and industries, the institute reported.
