NEW HAVEN, Conn., October 1, 2013 – ASSA ABLOY announces the integration of their Aperio™ wireless lock technology with Vanderbilt Industries’ Security Management System (SMS). Vanderbilt provides security systems used in a vast range of industries, with customized applications designed to fit specific client requirements.

SMS provides a powerful, single source solution for integrating facilities’ access control, digital video and alarm monitoring systems. The integration with Aperio offers easy and affordable expansion of the SMS system to a variety of openings. Aperio is a global wireless platform, available across a broad range of locking hardware from ASSA ABLOY Group brands, that offers the flexibility to address multiple applications throughout any facility.

“The robust Vanderbilt SMS platform provides users with everything they need to manage any size facility, but we were limited to specific hardware devices when customers were ready to add doors,” states Mitchell Kane, president, Vanderbilt Industries. “Our partnership with ASSA ABLOY and Aperio is the next step in providing an open service to our customers, increasing the support for multiple devices – offering greater flexibility and easier expansion.”

“The Aperio integration is a significant milestone in our partnership with Vanderbilt,” stated Martin Huddart, President Access and Egress Hardware Group, ASSA ABLOY Americas. “We are excited to combine the ease and flexibility of Aperio with a robust system like SMS in order to deliver a simple, cost-effective solution for comprehensive access control.”

Aperio is a global wireless platform that allows you to expand your access control footprint – quickly, easily, and affordably. It uses wireless communication (IEEE 802.15.4) between the lock and an Aperio hub to provide real-time communication to the access control system, simplifying installation and reducing costs.
