Benchmark Electronics, KeyMe Plan Key-Cutting Kiosks With Memory

The kiosks enable customers to scan and store a digital copy of their keys. They can then make copies without bringing the original key.

ANGLETON, Texas, June 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Benchmark Electronics, Inc. has formed a partnership with KeyMe to manufacture KeyMe's new, proprietary key cutting kiosks, which will be initially deployed in select 7-Eleven stores across the New York City area. The kiosks enable customers to scan and store a digital copy of their keys to enable the creation of a spare copy at a later time eliminating the need for a physical key in order to make a copy.  This means that once they store their "digital key" in a KeyMe kiosk, customers will never have to worry about losing their keys again.

"We are excited to partner with Benchmark, a top EMS company with world-class design engineering services.  Their extensive knowledge in automation, robotics and precision cutting enabled us to develop this revolutionary product, solving an age old problem and ensuring that consumers never get locked out again," said Greg Marsh, KeyMe's Chief Executive Officer.

Mark Troutman, Benchmark's Vice President of U.S. Design Engineering commented, "We are pleased to support KeyMe in the design and manufacture of their groundbreaking KeyMe Kiosks.  Benchmark is excited to utilize our core competency in integrating complex technologies to make this product a reality."
