LAS VEGAS, Nevada, April 10, 2013 At ISC West 2013, ASSA ABLOY will feature a newly expanded range of Aperio wireless locks. This will include a preview of three new products slated for launch later this year: the HES KS100 Server Cabinet Lock, the AS100 Sensor, and the Securitron R100 Surface Mounted Wireless Reader for glass door applications. These new locking solutions will join the family of Aperio wireless locking solutions currently available from Adams Rite, HES, Medeco, and SARGENT, serving numerous applications in a continuously evolving market.

The continuing trend towards colocation data centers brings a unique set of security challenges to integrators. Colocation allows several companies to rent servers in a third-party data center, or rent square footage to house and operate their owned servers in a controlled environment. As colocation increases, the number of individuals with access to the server room also increases, and the opportunities for unauthorized access increases.  At the same time, the increasing capacity and processing power of servers raise the value of the hardware and stored media exponentially, resulting in higher costs in the case of a breach or failure.

The HES KS100 Server Cabinet Locks help address the security needs of data centers and collocation facilities by providing real-time access control on individual cabinet doors in a single-card system.  The KS100 greatly improves monitoring and security levels on server cabinets by allowing facilities to use existing credential systems, with no keys to control or replace and no codes to secure or remember.  The easily installed lock meets Grade 1 asset protection standards, offering quality and durability that can withstand more than 500,000 cycles of operation and has a 250 lb. holding force.

“Aperio allows integrators to leverage a facility’s existing infrastructure and provide higher levels of security in areas where it once wasn’t possible or cost-effective to hardwire an opening. We understand that unauthorized access can lead to data breaches and downtime, causing significant setbacks for large corporations. Ensuring their investments are safe and secure is a priority as our technology evolves,” stated Peter Boriskin, director of product management – electronic access control, ASSA ABLOY Americas.

The AS100 is a new wireless sensor that allows users to add a variety of monitoring functions to different types of openings quickly, easily and affordably.

The Securitron R100 Surface Mounted Reader with Aperio technology brings wireless access control to full glass doors.  Used in conjunction with an electrified locking device such as a Magnalock®, the R100 is available with a black or white finish and provides an easy alternative for challenging surfaces such as glass or marble.
