Aug. 17--The following is a question-and-answer-style interview with a Brent Fischer, owner of full-service locksmith shop that has been serving Aberdeen, SD, since 1960.

Q. What products or services do you offer?

A. We sell all brands of locks as well as repairing them, rekeying them and installing them. We have thousands of keys on hand, both foreign and domestic. We offer emergency openings of vehicles and homes. Also, we are an authorized TORO outdoor power products dealer, selling lawnmowers and snowthrowers.

Q. Tell us a little history of the business.

A. The business was founded in 1960 by Don Wilde. Upon his sudden death, leaving Aberdeen without a locksmith, our family purchased the store and greatly expanded the inventory of locks and keys. In 1985, we became an authorized TORO sales and service dealer.

Q. What do you specialize in?

A. Providing a full service walk-in locksmith shop at a convenient location, along with providing on-site service work.

Q. What's new at your place?

A. We continually try to expand our key blank selection to keep up with the ever-changing key market.

Q. How many employees do you have?

A. Two: Brent Fischer, owner, and Brock Fischer, manager.

Q. What are you most proud of?

A. Our business strives to provide hard-to-find specialty keys that are seldom found in a typical locksmith shop. We cut about 100 keys each day and very seldom have one returned that doesn't work. We stock computer chip keys, keys for campers, boats, four-wheelers, motorcycles, golf carts, tractors, semitrucks, foreign-made cars and about anything that has a lock.

Q. What's the greatest compliment your business has ever received?

A. We frequently hear, "I couldn't find this key anywhere else!" or "I always come here to get my keys made because I know they are going to work the first time!"

Q. What have you learned about business?

A. Take good care of your customers, and they will always return back to you and tell others of their great experience with your business.

Q. Goals for the future?

A. Continue to provide reputable locksmithing services for Aberdeen and surrounding communities.
