2012 Trends: More tools, Expanded Industrial Supply Sector

Over four days in March 2012, Cologne will again become the hub of the global hardware industry.  The INTERNATIONALE  EISENWARENMESSE  KÖLN will take place from March 4-7, 2012 in Cologne, Germany.

Over 2,700 exhibitors from more than 50 countries are planning to  show their products , with the tradeshow  divided into the product categories Tools; Industrial Supply; Fasteners & Fixings, Fittings and Home Improvement. Attendees will find the latest product innovations and will be educated about new product trends and launches.

New-generation products will include tool trolleys with optimized drawers and modified wheels and measurement instruments with laser rangefinders for more convenient operation.  Other innovations include Allen key holders with a new clamping device that ensures that unused keys cannot fall out. One of the show’s highlights will be a radial tile cutting machine for large format tiles with foldaway base frame and integrated wheels, saving storage. A wide range of new- generation cutting tools for floor coverings will be on display.

Retailers will find new ideas for effective “Point of Sales” solutions ranging from simple displays and modular systems to large shop-in-shop solutions.

For the first time the INTERNATIONALE EISENWARENMESSE will offer an Industrial Supply section providing attendees with industrial and safety applications unavailable via retail channels.  Examples are powerful wet and dry vacuum cleaners usable for home and workshop use. An important trend is the increased durability of tools and multifunctional use of tables for sawing and drilling. Industrial air compressors are now lighter and  movable for greater flexibility at construction sites. A high-performance air compressor able to produce 87 gallons of air per minute will be displayed in Cologne.

Grinding material suppliers will present a new generation of discs made of jute, an affordable natural raw material that combines high performance with ease of use. The new material ensures great durability and an extended life time.

Worldwide increased demand for specialty screws and fastening solutions require a new generation of products.  In Cologne, stainless steel screws with integrated expansion shells used as spacer for corrugated and trapezoidal profiles or fastening systems for solar power installations will be shown for the first time.

The "INTERNATIONALE EISENWARENMESSE KÖLN is the show to attend" said Bill Lee, President and CEO of the North American Retail Hardware Association & Secretary-General, International Federation of Hardware and Housewares Associations."The innovations, product offering and the wide range of sources are key ingredients to being a modern retailer in a global world."

New products will also be available in the furniture fittings category: Ball-bearing full-extension drawers with an integrated damping system as well systems for one and two-rail sliding door fittings that can be retrofitted. Professional DIY specialists can look forward to custom designed workbenches adjustable to individual needs and furniture size. Customers will be able to choose from a wide variety of available components, such as drawers of different sizes and side walls and worktops of different widths.

Show dates are March 4-7, 2012 from 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. The INTERNATIONALE EISENWARENMESSE will occupy Halls 1-5 as well as Hall 10 at the Cologne exhibition centre. For registration, exhibitor listing and travel information, please visit www.eisenwarenmesse.com.
