Aspiring locksmiths, craftspeople and the general public are invited inside North Bennet Street School for a rare behind-the-scenes view of eight full-time training programs.

BOSTON, MA - Aspiring locksmiths, furniture makers, bookbinders, carpenters, jewelry makers – or those merely curious about the process of making beautiful things by hand – are invited to a special behind-the-scenes look at one of America's oldest schools of craftsmanship during a two-day open house at North Bennet Street School, 150 North Street in Boston's historic North End.

The open house event begins on Friday, November 20, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm and continues on Saturday, November 21, 10:00 am - 2:00 pm. Admission is free.

Visitors are invited to watch and interact with students and instructors as they learn and hone their traditional hand skills in the eight areas of concentration: cabinet and furniture making, violin making and repair, carpentry, preservation carpentry,  jewelry making and repair, piano restoration, bookbinding and locksmithing and security technology.

Serious amateurs seeking workshops and short courses and aspiring artisans considering full-time careers are welcome to tour through the school for an informative, inspiring look at the expansive studio spaces and traditional training methods that have earned the school its international reputation for excellence.

Visitors are also invited to view the finished work of students and alumni on sale in the school's Gallery Store in the North Street lobby of the building.

North Bennet Street School is a fully accredited, post-secondary crafts academy. Founded in 1881, the school is internationally renowned for excellence in teaching and for its role in promoting and preserving traditional crafts skills.
