Ilco Futura

Futura is a single machine designed to originate several different types of keys. Keys can be made by direct code, indirect code or by duplication. All popular types of key such as edge-cut single-sided, double-sided, cruciform plus dimple and laser (sidewinder) keys can be originated.  Optional attachments allow Tibbe and tubular keys to be cut.

Edge cut keys are copied by using an optical reader. Out-of-tolerance decoded measurements can be changed to original factory dimensions producing a duplicate key with factory OEM specifications. Laser (sidewinder) and dimple keys are decoded by an electrical contact system.

A tablet with touchscreen provides step-by-step instructions to simplify key selection and the key cutting process. Wi-Fi provides the communication link between the tablet and the Futura machine. An included database provides extensive amounts of information for key originating.  Software updates are available either by a direct Wi-Fi connection or can be downloaded to a personal computer and installed into the Futura tablet via a USB port. Futura software has multi-language support.

Standard features simplify the key making process. LED lights mounted in the machine change colors during the cutting cycle.

White = ready

Yellow = cutting in process

Green = procedure

The four-position jaw accommodates a wide variety of edge cut keys without requiring additional adaptors. Laser (sidewinder) and dimple keys are decoded by an electrical completed.

3D PRO XTREME

During a visit to Italy a few years, ago this reporter visited a locksmith business near Venice. The locksmith had a counter filled with several different key machines. Each key machine was dedicated to the duplication or origination of one type of key and the total investment in key machines on the counter was estimated to be approximately $40,000.

A Texas locksmith had a better idea and invented the first key electronic key machine capable of originating either standard single-sided keys, double-sided keys, tubular keys Tibbe keys or laser (sidewinder) keys. This was accomplished by incorporating two cutter axis in the same machine. The horizontal axis contains a standard cutter similar to cutters found on key duplicating machines. The vertical axis contains a milling cutter for originating laser, Tibbe  and tubular keys.  The 3D Pro Xtreme (3D Pro) machine uses a small amount of counter space, takes the place of several individual key cutting machines and costs a fraction of the investment required if individual machines were purchased for each different type of key.

Internal electronics simplify each feature of the 3D Pro machine. Old-time key code machines required locksmiths to physically set discs or gauges into position and hope the settings were correct. 3D Pro machines have most depth and space dimensions saved  in memory.  3D Pro owners can load the operating program into their own PC or order an optional PC which is preloaded with 3D Pro operating software.  Charts, illustrations and complete instructions included in the 3D Pro software make key origination an easy task.

Several vise jaws are included with the 3D Pro. Vise jaws and are easily exchanged as needed.  The complete vise jaw assembly can be moved on a track left or right to set the vise jaws at the horizontal or vertical axis cutting position.

3D Pro Xtreme machines are designed to be operated by a personal computer (PC). Instructions, charts and illustrations shown on the PC screen simplify key machine operation. Most required adjustments are completed on the PC screen. Well-designed vise jaws retain every type of key in perfect alignment for origination.

Standard or sidewinder keys can be duplicated on the 3D Pro Xtreme machine by using a flip down tracer attachment. The tracer attachment operates by making electrical contact with the key at each specified space location and notes the depth of cut at each location. Cutting information is kept in memory. An uncut blank then installed in place of the original owners key in the vise jaw and the decoded cuts in memory are installed onto the new key blank.  Factory spacing and depths of cut can be used when originating a key which eliminates any possible wear found on the owners key.

The 3D Pro key machine can accept information from a Genericode code program to add even greater flexibility to a machine designed for locksmiths by locksmiths.
