Last Call: National Average Price Survey

Once again, Locksmith Ledger is polling our subscribers to determine the average charges for specific locksmith services. We need some help from you, our readers. Please take the time to fill out our newly updated National Average Price Survey card and mail, fax or email it back to us at the addresses on the card.

To download the questionnaire card in a pdf format, go to www.locksmithledger.com/12002044 and click on Download Document.

For 2014/2015, we have added several new categories, reflecting the growing importance of electronics to today’s locksmiths. The new Electronic Security Labor Charges sections asks for charges for installation of Electric Strikes, Exit Alarms, Electromagnetic Locks, Electrified Locks, Electrified Hinges, Keypads/Readers, Electric Power Bolts, Video Surveillance Systems and Phone Access Systems.

Because many locksmiths charge by the job rather than the hour, we also ask about charges to install the following locks and door hardware products: Cylindrical Deadbolt, Cylindrical Lever Lock, Mortise Lockset, Adams-Rite Lock, Install Door Rim Closer, Concealed Door Closer, Rim Exit Device, Vertical Rod Exit Device and Continuous Hinge.

Code Card of the Month

Many locksmiths use code machines which require cards for accurate origination of keys.  New key blanks and depth/space dimensions continue to appear.  Our database contains more than 2,000 individual records while code machine companies offer only approximately 300 different cards for their machines. As a solution, Locksmith Ledger will offer new code cards each month which can be downloaded free of charge from the LocksmithLedger.com website. Access the December Code Card of the Month and past code cards at www.locksmithledger.com/12002551.

Here is a listing of Code Cards currently available for download:

November 2014: Pundra double-sided utility box key, Pedestal Mailbox Key with new, narrow spacing

October 2014: Two Bauer office furniture cards

September 2014 (Motorcycle cards): Ural New, Ural Old, Big Dog, Honda  ASRTSPC, Honda ALNGSPC, Kawasaki, HDIRON

Please click on the following links, and then click on Download Document to download and print code cards in pdf format. Also please make sure your printer is set to print at full size rather than to reduce pages to fit so the cards will print correctly.

Subscribers can send requests for special code cards to [email protected].  Cards offered on our website in coming months will be based on the most popular reader requests.
