PDQ has introduced the weather resistant E629 Series Exit Device Trim Standalone Electronic Lock. This 3 hour UL10C Fire Rated exit device trim is equipped with a telephone-style keypad and mechanical lock override. The Master code controls up to 100 user codes.

Current input is 12-24 VAC/VDC at 300mA. The E629 Series Trim is powered by four AA alkaline batteries with an expected 100,000 cycles battery life.

Electronic locking functions include standard relock mode, passage mode and emergency mode. Emergency mode is activated by the Master Code. Once entered, the lock unlocks for the configured time and re-locks, locking out all User Codes.

The valet mode enables additional control including transmission and other power and speeding reductions. Valet Mode can be activate or deactivate with a four-digit PIN code.

Safe Lock FYI

If an electronic safe lock-equipped safe has a key override lock cylinder, the safe just about always uses a solenoid for the locking mechanism. The reason is the key lock energizes the solenoid to permit the boltwork to be retracted.

Keyline Ford Remote Head Blanks

Keyline has introduced the RFD80 and RFD100 Ford four-button, remote head key blanks. RFD80 and RFD100 key blanks are available in three key blades -- FD3 (Tibbe), FD21 (8-Cut) and FD40 (Sidewinder).

The RFD80 is equipped with a Texas Instruments 80 bit integrated transponder chip. This OEM chip can be programmed using a diagnostic tool or on-board programmed. The remote functions are programmed using a diagnostic tool. An on-board replaceable battery powers the remote functions.

In place of the TI 80 Bit chip, the RFD100 has a Keyline integrated TK100 universal electronic head permitting the cloning of TI 80 bit chip using the Keyline 884 Decryptor Ultegra. In addition to programming the transponder, the 884 can program the remote functions.

Important: To program these remote head key blanks, the 884 Decryptor Ultegra must be updated.

Car-Opening Techniques: 2007-2014 Mazda CX-7

This month we will offer car-opening tool manufacturer's recommended techniques for opening the 2007-2014 Mazda CX-7. The CX-7 is equipped with bicycle style cables inside the door.

Warning: Failure to remove the wedges before bringing the tool up on the inside of the door may result in breaking the window glass.

Important: Be very careful when you contact the lock buttons or the inside release handle. Too much force can result in scratching or marring the button or handle. Placing electrical tape over the tip of the tool can help protect the plastic controls.

The following opening methods can be used to unlock the 2007-2014 Mazda CX-7:

Use the High Tech #35 Inside Access Tool and a wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Lubricate the area. Carefully wedge out the front passenger door at the inside lock button. Carefully insert the #35 car-opening tool into the door cavity with the tip facing forward. Lower the tool until the tip's arch is beneath the bottom of the glass. Rotate the tool until the tip is on the passenger side of the glass. Carefully raise the car-opening tool until the curved tip starts to enter into the passenger compartment. Stop and remove the wedge. Raise the tool carefully into the passenger compartment. Rotate the tool until the tip is facing the inside manual door lock rocker. Carefully flip the rocker open using the car-opening tool to unlock the locking mechanism. Lift up on the outside door handle to open the passenger door.

Use the Pro-Lok AO-35 “MCOT-Wide Tool” and an inflatable wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Lubricate the area. Insert the inflatable wedge 10 inches from the front edge of the front passenger door window and inflate the wedge according to manufacturer’s instructions. Insert the AO-35 tool 10 inches from the front edge of the window glass with the tip facing forwards. Lower the tool 14 inches into the door cavity. Rotate the tool until the tip is on the passenger compartment side of the window glass. Deflate and remove the wedge. Carefully raise the tool until the tool enters the passenger compartment. Rotate the tool 45 degrees counterclockwise and the tip of the tool should align with the manual lock/unlock button. Rotate the manual lock/unlock button rearward to unlock the locking mechanism.

Use the Slide Lock Flush Mount Tool™ and two wedges to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Lubricate the area. Insert the first wedge at the front edge of the window glass. Place the second wedge a few inches wider apart than the car-opening tool. Carefully insert the Flush Mount Tool with the curved tip facing rearward. Lower the tool on an angle towards the front of the vehicle until the loop is beneath the bottom of the glass. Rotate the tool until the tip is on the passenger side of the glass. Carefully raise the car-opening tool until the curved tip starts to raise above the weather stripping. Stop and remove the wedges. Slide the tool carefully into the passenger compartment. Carefully manipulate the tool to having the tip contact the manual lock/unlock rocker or the power switch in order to unlock the locking mechanism. Lift up on the outside door handle to open the front passenger door.

Use Steck Manufacturing’s BigEasy “Glo” and a wedge to unlock the passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by inserting the plastic wedge or inflatable wedge into the top of the door. Insert the BigEasy tool into the passenger compartment. Manipulate the tool to position the 90-degree bend tip against the lock release button or pull out on the inside handle to open the door.

Use the Tech-Train Productions TT-1025 car-opening tool and two wedges to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Lubricate the area. Begin by inserting two wedges eight inches apart near the inside door handle assembly. Carefully insert the TT-1025 tool into the door cavity with the tool pointing forward. Carefully lower the tool until the bend in the tool is beneath the bottom of the window glass. Rotate the tool counterclockwise until the bend is on the passenger compartment side of the window glass. Carefully raise the tool until the bend is just visible. Immediately remove the wedges. Continue to raise the tool until the tip is in the passenger compartment. Carefully angle the car-opening  tool until the rounded end of the tip is against the inside lock control rocker. Carefully use the tip to unlock the door locking mechanism. Lift up on the outside door handle to open the door.

The direction to rotate the driver's door lock plug to the unlocked position is clockwise.
