The mechanical pushbutton lock provides proven convenience for applications where a single lock entry code satisfies the access control requirements of the end user. Using a mechanical pushbutton lock eliminates keys, cards, batteries and computers.
Simplex 5000 Series Mechanical Pushbutton locks meet or exceed ANSI/BHMA 156.2 (Cylindrical Lock) and 156.13 (Exit Device Trim), Grade 1 Certification. The lever equipped locks conform to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and the California State Reference Code for levers returning to within 1/2" of door surface. Cylindrical latch models have a 3-hour UL/ULC fire rating on "A" labeled doors.
Weather-resistant Simplex 5000 Series Locks have a five-button keypad which operates the Simplex "chamber", a one-inch square by five-inch long mechanism that has been providing keyless mechanical access control for more than 50 years. In addition to securing commercial doors, Simplex Locks provide security and restrict access for a number of applications including residential deadbolts, cabinet locks and gun safes.
The single lock entry code eliminates the need for keys, batteries, hardwiring, software and cards. The code is programmed at the keypad without having to remove or disassemble the Simplex 5000. Department of Defense (D.O.D.) compliant locks have interior combination changes. The lock entry code is changeable and requires only a few minutes.
Simplex 5000 Series locks can have from a one- to five-digit combination using the five buttons. The five buttons can be pushed individually, or two or more buttons can be pushed simultaneously, creating multiple combinations. Each button can only be pushed only once. Over 1,000 combinations are possible.
To operate the Simplex 5000 Series lock, depress the lever or rotate the knob to reset the chamber. Enter the combination using the buttons of the keypad. Each time a button is pressed, it should click. Once the combination has been entered, press the ENTER button. Rotate the outside lever or knob, retracting the latch bolt or exit device latch.
The 5000 Series is equipped with an override cylinder. The keying options include key-in-lever cylinder, small format interchangeable core, and large format removable core. The lever and knob configured locks can be configured for small and large format cores. Key-in-lever models include an Ilco 1599, six pin cylinder and multiple tailpieces to accommodate other similar size/style cylinders. SFIC and large format cores are not included. They are available separately.
The Simplex 5000 Series locks are available as cylindrical and mortise locks, and exit device trim. Locks are pre-configured for lefthand door installation. They are field-reversible for righthand door installations without additional components. Locks include mounting hardware to accommodate door thicknesses of 1 3/8”-2 ¼” in each box.
Four lock configurations are for cylindrical models:
Model 502X is a combination lever handle storeroom function with key override. The combination can only be changed from the exterior side of the door. Knobs are an available option.
Model 503X is a combination lever handle storeroom function with key override. The combination can only be changed from the interior side of the door to be Department of Defense compliant. Knobs are an available option.
Model 504X is a combination lever handle storeroom function with key override. The combination can only be changed from the exterior side of the door. Lock can be set to passage function with interior lock cylinder or thumbturn. Knobs are an available option.
Model 505X is a combination lever handle storeroom function with key override. The combination can only be changed from the interior side of the door to be Department of Defense compliant. Lock can be set to passage function with interior lock cylinder or thumbturn. Knobs are an available option.
Multiple backset and latch bolt lengths are also available on all Simplex 5000 cylindrical latch models.
Models 504X and 505X are equipped with the passage function, which permits access without using the lock entry code. Feature activated from the inside with a thumbturn or key (included with all passage feature models)
Three mortise lock models are offered :
Model 5066 is a combination lever handle storeroom function with key override. The combination can only be changed from the exterior side of the door. The 5066 mortise lock is configured without a deadbolt.
Model 5067 is a combination lever handle storeroom function with key override. The combination can only be changed from the exterior side of the door. The mortise lock is configured with a deadbolt. Engaging the deadbolt provides combination lock. Override key can retract deadbolt.
Model 5068 is a combination lever handle storeroom function with key override. The combination can only be changed from the exterior side of the door. The 5068 mortise lock is configured without a deadbolt. Lock can be set to passage function with interior lock cylinder or thumbturn.
The eighth and final version is for exit device trim models:
Model 5010 is a combination lever handle storeroom function with key override. The combination is changed on the exterior of door. Egress is gained with exit device operation. Requires rim exit device mounting hardware. A universal mounting plate is included with the exit trim. This mounting plate simplifies installation. It eliminates the need to stock different locks and plates for various exit devices.

Simplex 5000 Series Mechanical Pushbutton Locks are manufactured using solid cast housings and levers. Locks have cast stainless steel internal drive parts. The metal keypad buttons are vandal resistant. These pushbutton locks are solid; the cylindrical models weigh approximately nine pounds, the mortise locks are approximately 12 pounds and the exit trim is approximately eight pounds.
Six finishes are available. Satin Chrome and Black are standard finishes. Optional finishes include Satin Brass, Dark Bronze, Bright Brass and Bright Chrome. Contact the factory for specifics.
