Simon Hakim explained how to control false alarms. Tom Gillespie, Pro-Lok, serviced Toyota Corolla ignition locks. Larry O'Toole continued his series on understanding your customers. Pat Olmstead wrote everything you needed to know about exit devices. Tim O'Leary explained local Law #70 which provides safety measures for people using ATM machines in NYC. Doug Loughran, Dorma Group, showed installation instructions for the Dorma ED800 door opener. Milt Wolferseder serviced a Diebold Cashgard TL-15.
TEN YEARS AGO
High security locks were featured in the June 2004 issue. Jerry Levine studied the new Corbin-Russwin Pyramid lock system. Gale Johnson reported on the ML key system by Master Lock. Wade Landrum was a strong advocate for the Scorpion CX-5 High Security lock program. Dale Bowman, Medeco Security Locks, explained how patents affect the long range security of high security lock cylinders. Tom Gillespie checked the GE Supra pushbutton lock lineup. D&D Technologies showed how to install their Lokk-Latch gate lock. Jet Hardware introduced a new line of cam locks, file cabinet locks, mailbox locks and showcase locks. Tim O'Leary wrote about a new GE-TRACcess access control system. Jerry Levine tackled a vintage Sargent padlock and fit a new operating key. Rod Oden looked at security from the prospective of a corporation. A Bianchi (Keyline) 303 manual sidewinder duplicator was put to the test. Jerry Levine visited the 2004 Los Angeles auto show and reported on what he found. Jerry Levine also had numerous new car tips in his Locksmithing Etc. column. SHDA MEETINGS HELD
Each year the Security Hardware Distributors Association (SHDA) schedules an "industry advancement summit." The summit brings together well-known members of the locksmith distributor industry and important security product manufacturers. During scheduled individual distributor meetings, manufacturers introduce their newest products and distributors decide on which products to order for the coming year.
SHDA generously allows members of the media to also schedule meetings during the summit. Manufacturers showed Locksmith Ledger their new product ideas and reports on these new products will fill the pages of Locksmith Ledger during the coming months. The SHDA convention was conducted April 29 to May 2, 2014. As soon as the current convention is completed, we will start counting down the days until the next SHDA convention in 2015.
