Mul-T-Lock USA Appoints President

Industry veteran Roy Miller, C.P.L. has been appointed president of Mul-T-Lock USA, Inc.  A second generation locksmith, Miller formerly served as Mul-T-Lock USA, Inc.’s director of access control & product management.  In addition, Roy formerly served as senior regional sales manager at Mul-T-Lock USA, Inc., system designer at Clark Security Products and as a manager and sales representative at American Locks & Supply.

Mul-T-Lock, a leading global supplier of high security & access control solutions has been partnering with locksmiths around the world for over 40 years, and over time, Miller  has developed close working relationships with a great many of his colleagues and clients.

“For me and hopefully for our customers there is a true value in my coming from the locksmith channel.  Having been a part of this ever-changing industry for so many years, I’ve always been in a position to understand the specific needs and the unique challenges that our locksmiths encounter from day to day, but now I’m in a position to support them in a more personal way.  When I come to the table with a new product suggestion or business method, I’m doing so from the security professionals’ point of view.  Mul-T-Lock has always acted with the dealers’ best interests in mind, but now I have a chance to offer solutions made by a locksmith and made for a locksmith; it’s very exciting!”

Miller will focus on delivering more advanced solutions such as the WatchLock GPS-enabled padlock, SMARTair wireless access control and CLIQ e-cylinder & smart key technologies to security professionals and end-users.  He also plans to emphasize how simpler digital solutions such as Mul-T-Lock’s Digital Door Viewer and Code-It electronic lever can easily help locksmiths offer innovative off-the-shelf solutions.

“The market is changing rapidly, and we need to adapt,” says Miller, “mechanical solutions certainly still have their place and will persist as the need for override continues to exist, but it simply isn’t enough anymore to focus only on locks and keys.  I am committed to helping our dealers embrace the technologies that can enhance their business, by attracting new patrons, satisfying their existing cliental, and generating repeat customers and recurring revenue streams.”

Viscount Systems Appoints CEO

Viscount Systems, a leading supplier of security systems and software, announces the appointment of Dennis Raefield as Chief Executive Officer. Raefield has been a board member for Viscount since November of 2011. He replaces Steve Pineau, who has resigned from the company.

"I want to thank Steve for his valuable contributions to Viscount over the past twelve years," commented Raefield. "Viscount's Freedom access control security technology is well positioned to continue to benefit from the convergence between cyber and physical security systems, and we plan to invest in our infrastructure and people to meet this demand."

Raefield has a 35- year career in the security industry in senior management roles. He was president of Honeywell Access Systems, president of Pinkerton Systems Integration (now Stanley), and CEO of Mace Security.

Viscount's Freedom access control system allows entry devices (ID cards, RFID readers, biometrics, etc.) to be connected to, and controlled by, standard building IT networks without requiring expensive control panels and wiring. This eliminates up to 80% of the cost of traditional access control systems and provides a green, environmentally friendly solution. Freedom also enables existing IT databases (Microsoft Active Directory or LDAP) to replace the software component of traditional systems. As a result, Viscount's Freedom technology drastically reduces system costs while providing a much more secure access control solution.
