The first-place winner and recipient of a $200,000 grant is Faith Christian Academy in Sellersville, PA, who received the most votes in the national K-12 contest. The grants will provide the winning schools with STANLEY Security installed products and services to help fund safer campuses.

The TOGETHER FOR SAFER SCHOOLS Grant Program is a national K-12 contest established by STANLEY Security in 2013 to help K-12 schools enhance security on campus.  In its first year, the program offered U.S. schools the opportunity to receive security products and services through a $500,000 grant program. During the 45-day nomination period between September 13 and October 28, nearly 1,000 schools were nominated from around the country, with at least one school represented from every state in the continental U.S.

Once the nominations were finalized, the voting process began and schools rallied their students, teachers and communities to encourage daily voting, either online at www.stanleysaferschools.com, or by text message. Voting ended at 11:59 pm EST on December 13.

“At STANLEY Security, we recognize that maintaining the safety of children and faculty in the classroom is crucial, a top priority in our communities, and at the forefront of our national consciousness,” said Brett Bontrager, Senior Vice President & Group Executive, STANLEY Security, for Stanley Black & Decker. “The TOGETHER FOR SAFER SCHOOLS Grant Program embodies the universal concept that educational institutions should always remain protected, safe and supportive environments for the cultivation and growth of our youth.”
