Defeating Scammers & Getting More Business

Editor:

We are constantly aware of the impact scammers are having on our bottom line and the industry in general.

We develop our customer base and then out of nowhere some dirt bag comes along, takes our business away with deceptive practices and we are left wondering what just happened. There is something you can do about it. It's not glamorous or flashy, but it does work.

Send your customers a quarterly newsletter. Hold it right there. Don't skip the rest of this. Hear me out, because this is the difference between looking for work every day and being booked days ahead.

If you use Quickbooks or some other accounting software, you can print off mailing labels. If not, develop a mailing list with something like My Mail List. Print off your labels. Using Word, take 30-45 minutes to make a one-page newsletter. T

his is what I put in it: I spotlight a product of interest such as restricted keys, access control, chip keys and remotes, whatever. There is a small box promoting our Free 32 Point Security Review. Include a section about scammers, letting your customers know what to look for. They don't want to be ripped off. It's short and sweet, keeps you in front of your customers and is easy to do.

Every time we send this out, we get a surge of work and stay on top of our customer's minds. I don't care what others are doing, because my customers aren't looking online or in the phone book for a locksmith. They know who to call.
