Revolution V3 Touch Screen Lever

Arrow Lock has introduced the Revolution V3 Lever, a stand-alone Touch Screen electronic cylindrical lock. The zinc escutcheon V3 lever is BHMA/ANSI A156.36, Grade 2 lockset equipped with tamper alarm and low battery warning.

The weather resistant Revolution V3 Lever Lockset can have up to 25 self-assigned 4-8 digit User Pin Codes. The key override is available with a conventional lock cylinder or SFIC. Four AA batteries provide an estimate one-year operation.

The V3 lever can be installed having a standard 2 3/4'” or 2 3/8” backset and fit 1 3/8” to 1 3/4", door thickness. Available finishes include US3, US15, and US10BP.

Mortised Pull Handle

Dortronics has introduced the ML-1100 Series Mortise Lock & Pull, a mortised 1,000- pound holding force, 24VDC electromagnetic lock that is installed into the jamb leg at the height of a pull handle. The door pull contains the armature. It is mounted onto the exterior of the door using four shoulder screws. When powered, the magnetic lock bonds with the armature securing the door in the closed position. In this position, the door is secured in the same position as a latchbolt.

New Ford GEN 2 PEPS

STRATTEC has introduced a Ford 5 Button Generation 2 PEPS Fob, part number 5923790. Applications for Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) Fob are the 2013 Escape, 2013 Focus BEV (electric vehicle) and the 2013 C-MAX Energi (electric vehicle). The PEPS Emergency high security back-up key blank part number is 5923267.

Important: This fob is not compatible with following five-button Ford fobs: 5921285, 5921286 or 5921288.

SDC New Products

Security Door Controls has introduced several new products including a bollard post with push plate or touch panel and the low current motorized lockset for OEM battery powered standalone lock applications.

As an alternative to wall-mounted access control access switches, the bollard posts are available as 42" surface mount or 54" in-ground models. The two switches or the touch panel should comply with the 2007 California Building Code. The CBC requires two push plates, one at seven or eight inches above the floor and the second, the centerline is 30 inches minimum to 44 inches maximum.

The SDC low current motorized lockset for battery powered standalone lock applications operating on a 3 to 5 VDC 250ms pulse. This motorized lever cylindrical lock exceeds ANSI A156-2 Grade 1 specifications having thru bolting and a clutch mechanism. There are independent return springs located within each rose to prevent lever sag. Conventional lock cylinder or option SFIC. Lever options comply with ADA and CSFM, Title 19.

2011-13 Chevrolet Captiva

The 2011-13 Chevrolet Captiva is the Daewoo-based replacement for the Saturn Vue. There appears to be some confusion regarding the Captiva. I have been told of a Captiva equipped with a high security lock mechanism. The only Captiva that I have seen is the fleet model. According to a resource, the Captiva is sold in Canada.

The fleet model is equipped with the V2001-V3200 code series having a double sided eight wafer lock mechanism.

Aluminum Glass Door Drill Guide

Ilco EH3LB Less Battery Clonable Head

Kaba Ilco Corp. has introduced the EH3LB clonable head for the Ilco modular cloning program. The EH3LB does not require a battery to operate as a Texas Instruments encrypted or Philips second generation Crypto transponder. The EH3LB clonable head fits all 22 blades in the Ilco modular key system.

The EH3LB head replaces two of the modular key heads, the EH3 and EH3P. This new head has a unique shape and an offset key ring hole.

To clone Texas Instruments encrypted and Philips second generation Crypto transponder equipped keys, software version 03.03.061 or higher is required for the RW4 Plus, Ilco EZ Clone Plus, or Plus Box using an RW4 Cloner to clone the EH3LB head.

Car-Opening Techniques: 2006-10 Hyundai Sonata

This month we will offer car-opening tool manufacturer's recommended techniques for opening the 2006-10 Hyundai Sonata. These vehicles use bicycle style cables within the door cavity, requiring opening procedures to contact the bright coated plastic lock/unlock rocker or the pull handle. Be very careful not to scratch these components.

On some of the early models, the front passenger door had to be opened by pulling on the outside door handle. Pulling on the inside handle just unlocked the locking mechanism.

These vehicles are equipped with multi-layer weather stripping. Before inserting a tool, use diluted liquid dish soap to lubricate the weather stripping. Dish soap will dissipate with water, where a lubricant can stain the door trim panel or the surrounding area.

 

Use the following opening methods to unlock the 2006-10 Hyundai Sonata:

Use the High Tech Tools 78SG Tool, the one hand jack system and an inflatable wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Use the jack system to provide a gap for the inflatable wedge at the top rear of the door opening. Insert a wedge into the gap to guide the 78SG car-opening tool. Insert the car-opening tool into the passenger compartment through the opening edge of the door with the tip pointing downward. Slide the tool until the tip is positioned behind the door handle. Pull back on the tool to move the handle into the unlocked position and open the passenger door.

Use the Pro-Lok AO34 “MCOT-Narrow Tool” car -opening tool and an inflatable wedge to unlock the rear passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by inserting the wedge 11 inches from the front edge of the glass. Insert the AO33 "MCOT-Separator Tool" four inches from the front edge of the window tip facing rearward. Insert the AO34 tool nine inches from the front edge of the window with the tip facing forward. Lower both tools fifteen inches. Rotate both tools beneath the bottom of the window. Deflate the inflatable wedge. Lift the AO33 gradually until the tip is visible in the passenger compartment. Raise the AO34 car-opening tool into the passenger compartment through the gap until the tip is visible. Manipulate the AO34 until the tip is in front of the manual lock-unlock button. Rotate the button rearward to the unlocked position.

Use the Slide Lock Frameless Window Tool™ car opening tool, a wedge and an inflatable wedge to unlock the front passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by inserting the inflatable wedge along the opening side of the doorframe above the centerline to relieve gasket pressure. Inflate the wedge. Slide the Frameless Window Tool into the passenger compartment above the wedge. Slide the tool in carefully to avoid the coupler damaging the car’s finish or damaging the weather stripping. Manipulate the tool over the inside door handle. Pull back on the tool to move the handle into the unlocked position and open the passenger door.

Use the Steck Manufacturing BigEasy “Glo” and a wedge to unlock the passenger door locking mechanism. Begin by inserting the wedge or inflatable wedge into the top corner of the door. Once the door has been wedged out, insert the BigEasy tool into the passenger compartment. Manipulate the tool to position the ninety degree bend tip behind the inside door handle. Pull back on the tool to move the handle into the unlocked position and open the passenger door.

Use the Tech-Train Productions TT-1015 car-opening tool and two wedges to unlock the front passenger door lock. Carefully insert the two wedges into the front passenger door approximately eight inches apart, splitting the difference at the inside door release handle. Carefully insert the TT-1015 tool into the door cavity with the tip pointing rearward until the bend is beneath the window glass. Rotate the tool until the bend is on the inside of the window glass and slowly raise the tool. As the bend becomes visible, stop and immediately remove the two wedges. Continue to lift the TT-1015 until the tip is visible. Manipulate the tip of the car-opening tool until it contacts the inside lock control rocker. Use the tip of the tool to unlock the locking mechanism.

The direction to rotate the driver's door lock plug to the unlocked position is counterclockwise.
