Galanis Joins ADI

Tom Galanis has joined ADI in the role of senior product marketing manager, residential and commercial A/V, for the United States and Puerto Rico. With more than 30 years of experience, Tom brings to ADI a high level of expertise in home theater and custom electronics.

Before joining ADI, Galanis was VP Of operations at Sixth Avenue Electronics, responsible for all aspects of the company’s A/V, custom installation and home theater business. Galanis joined Sixth Avenue Electronics when it was a single store operation, and helped expand the company to 19 retail locations with installation and design centers in each.

ASSA ABLOY acquires Metalind

ASSA ABLOY has acquired Croatian company Metalind, the market leader for fire-rated, flame-retardant and firebreak doors for commercial applications and special closures.

Metalind was established in 1996, has 120 employees and is headquartered in Bjelvoar, Croatia. Sales is expected to reach EUR 9 M in 2011 (approx SEK 82 M) with a good EBIT margin and it will be accretive to EPS from start.

SDC Expands Customer Service Dept.

Security Door Controls (SDC) has added Samantha Westby to its customer service department. As a customer service representative, she will provide phone support to customers and be responsible for processing orders received by e-mail, fax or phone.

Westby previously worked for an electro-mechanical switch manufacturer and performed similar duties. She also has marketing and customer service experience with the City of Ventura, CA.

Secura Key Promotes Nguyen

Secura Key has promoted Khoa Nguyen to manufacturing manager. Nguyen has been with Secura Key for more than 15 years, with  responsibilities including IT manager, manager of process engineering and production analyst.

“Khoa is a major asset to our manufacturing area. I expect great things from him,” said Joel Smulson, president.

Nguyen has a BS Degree from California State University Northridge, as well as an MBA with a concentration in Information Technology from California State Polytechnic Institute, Pomona.

Sielox Appoints Sales Executives

Terry Carver has been appointed Midwestern Regional Sales Manager and Hasan “Sam” Sawda has been appointed Western Regional Sales Manager for Sielox LLC, a leading provider of integrated access control and video surveillance solutions including Pinnacle Access Control software.

Carver joins Sielox after serving as Northeast regional sales manager for Paxton Access Inc. and business development manager for Pelco. He is based in Hamilton, Ohio.

Sawda last served as Western Regional Sales Manager for ImmerVision, optic technology combining 360 degree panomorph lenses and immersive software. Before that he was a Regional Sales Manager for Guardall, a UTC fire and security company. Sam’s expertise in access control and system integrations sales goes back to 1984 working for ADT, Cardkey, AMAG and Continental Access Controls. He is based in Upland, CA.
