DORMA recently introduced its new line of commercial locksets, which should be of interest to locksmiths, especially those locksmiths who already specify DORMA's other products.

CL600/CK600 Grade 2 Tubular Locksets. DORMA's CL600 and CK600 Series Grade 2 tubular locksets provide the security, aesthetics, and dependability required for many applications.
These key-in-lever locksets are built with a tubular chassis for all applications where ANSI Standard A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 2 products are required. To meet the aesthetic needs of your project, these versatile locks are available in a range of lever and knob trim designs. Choose between the LR or LC lever trim and the KR or KB knob trims.

Recommended applications include apartments, municipal buildings, retail complexes, offices and warehouses.

CL700/CK700 Grade 2 Cylindrical Locksets. DORMA's CL700 and CK700 Series Grade 2 cylindrical locksets provide exceptional security, enhanced aesthetics and rugged dependability.
These key-in-lever locksets are built with a high performance cylindrical chassis for all applications where ANSI A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 2 products are required. To meet the aesthetic needs of your project, these versatile locks are available in a range of lever and knob trim designs. Choose between the LR and LC lever designs or the KR and KB knob designs.

DORMA 700 Series locksets are easy to install in both wood or hollow-metal doors with ANSI Standard A115 preparations for cylindrical locks.

All CL700 lever handle locks include special spring assemblies designed to hold the levers in the correct position.

The 700 Series locks are through-bolted for additional strength and increased resistance to vibration.

All 700 Series locks are easily adjustable to accommodate doors from 1 3/8" to 1 7/8" thick without spacers or special tools. Consult the factory for other door thicknesses.

CL800/CK800 Heavy Duty Grade 1 Cylindrical Locksets. These premium locks are built with a high performance cylindrical chassis for all applications where ANSI A156.2 Series 4000 Grade 1 products are required. These versatile locks are available in a range of lever and knob trim designs to meet the aesthetic needs of your project. Choose between the LR and LC lever designs or the KR and KB knob designs. Made in the USA.
Features

DORMA 800 Series locksets are easy to install in both wood and hollow metal doors with ANSI Standard A115 preparations for cylindrical locks.

All CL800 Series operating trims feature a specially designed freewheeling function to protect the lock from damage caused by excessive torque applied to the lever handles. When locked, the outside lever handle will move freely through a 60-degree arc without operating the latch bolt. This free movement minimizes the opportunity for damage to the lock mechanism.

All CL800 lever handle locks include a special, high-strength spring and positive stop to eliminate unsightly sagging levers.

To ensure exceptionally smooth operation, the CL800 and CK800 Series locks incorporate a cast stainless steel retractor combined with bronze roller bearings. This design provides both extremely high strength and an extended service life for the lock mechanism.

All 800 Series locks are through-bolted for additional strength and reliability.

LR and LC lever designs include a special breakaway function to maintain security when the lever handles are attacked.

Choose between the LR, LC, or LT lever designs or select either the KR and KB knob designs.

The Locksmith Ledger contacted Joel P. Fastow, manager of marketing services for all the DORMA divisions in North America, for some additional details on DORMA's new line of commercial locks. Following are Locksmith Ledger's questions and Fastow's answers.

Q: When will the product be available? A: We began taking product for orders on March 17. Product will begin shipping on April 1.

Q: How can locksmiths order these products? A: Locksmiths can order product through their local locksmith distributor. If their distributor currently does not carry DORMA products, they should contact our Customer Service line at 1-800-523-8483 for names of local distributors that carry the product.

Q: What are the key features of your new product line? A: Our CL/CK 800 product features a stainless steel latch-retraction mechanism with bronze roller bearing parts to ensure long life. All DORMA 800 lever sets feature a specially designed free-wheeling trim that will resist damage caused by abuse. When locked, the outside lever handle will move through a 60-degree arc without operating the latch bolt. This free movement minimizes the opportunity for damage to the lock mechanism. The 800 Series also features special high-strength springs and positive stops to eliminate lever sag.

Our MK/ML 9000 mortise locks feature spring-loaded self centering spindles, high-strength springs and positive stops to prevent lever sag. Lever trim designs feature a break away feature to maintain security when lever handles are attacked. All of DORMA mortise locks are easily field-reversible without the need for special parts or tools.

Most importantly, our new locksets are part of a complete line that allows the contractor to package the DORMA product along with exits, door closers, automatic operators and the like.

Q: What are the specs on the electrified versions? A: As for the electrified product, it is available as both fail safe and fail secure and operates on 24 VAC/DC @ .21 Amps.
