Altronix HubWay™

The new HubWay™ Video/Data/Power Product Series from Altronix offers a simple way to lower the cost of installations by providing centralized UTP video, data control protocols and distributed camera power over a single structured cable, eliminating the need to utilize expensive coaxial cable and additional wiring.

The HubWay2 provides centralized UTP video, RS422/RS-S485 data and distributed camera power over a single CAT-5 or higher cable for distances up to 1000 feet to help simplify CCTV installations. Additionally, the HubWay2 package includes eight video baluns for consolidation/breakout of the video, data and power over the CAT-5 twisted pair cable.

The HubWay2 provides eight individually selectable 24/28VAC power outlets, each configurable for AC and/or DC cameras when used with the AC (HubWayA) or DC (HubWayD) video balun combiners. This design allows the video, data and power to each camera to be customized with regard to its particular specification and set up.

The unit has an 8 amp total output current (1 amp max. per channel) and all outputs are fuse protected. An illuminated master power disconnect circuit breaker with manual reset and individual power LED indicators are also incorporated into the design. The HubWay2 is enclosed in a modular 2U standard EIA 19" rack mount chassis and features removable terminal blocks with locking screw flanges for easier maintenance. ISONAS IP Proximity Reader Controllers

The ISONAS ClearNet™ reader-controllers are the first IP readers that connect directly to the data network, eliminating the need for traditional door controller panels. Each reader is packaged with ISONAS Crystal Matrix™ Software, which puts real-time control of all door control functions in the hands of authorized security personnel via the convenience of a PC and standard network. These network devices are simple to install and tap into existing networks using a familiar Windows interface.

ISONAS IP reader controllers offer a variety of choices so that you can compile the access control system that best suits your needs:

  • Choice of Connectivity: to the network via Ethernet cabling (TCP/IP protocol ) or wirelessly via a Wireless Access Point (IEEE 802.11b standard).
  • Choice of Reader: Mullion or Switchplate style readers (Wireless readers only available in Switchplate)
  • Choice of Credential: Available in models which use proprietary ISONAS proximity cards, or HID cards
  • Advanced Security Options: ISONAS Crystal Matrix software may be configured for multiple door and property management installations, with the ability to perform the following functions:

-- Sense if a door is open or closed
-- Process a Request To Exit (REX)
-- Process an auxiliary input of the customers choosing

Set up to 2 output lines.
  • PoE Ready: Use the latest Power Over Ethernet (POE) technology to simplify cabling to each door.
  • Scalable: Unlimited number of readers on a system and unlimited number of users.
  • Auto Network/ Standalone Mode: Continues to control access even if communications with server are interrupted.
  • Network Ready: Each reader is a network appliance ready to plug in via a standard RJ-45 connector.
  • Adaptable: MS Windows software platform enables integration with other devices using Graphical User Interface (GUI) or SNMP.
  • Secure Network: Communicates using AES 256-bit encryption.

The ISONAS reader is self-contained and does not use a controller mounted within the secured area, and all connections to the door strike, door sensor and REX switch to the reader are made to the reader. As a result, care must be taken to protect these from being accessed from outside the protected area, since shunting the sensor or triggering the REX will allow access into the premises.

ISONAS markets direct over the Internet. ISONAS is not a traditional access control product, but rather one of the new breed of "Network Appliances" hitting the security market, similar in some respects to IP cameras which have redefined the conventional CCTV market.

ISONAS readers list for $500. External wiring involves plugging into the clients network for the hard-wired model, or associating with the client's Wi-Fi.

ISONAS also reaches into the IT market with a single door, highly scalable solution with DIY potential. Up until now, this niche has been largely ignored by the systems integrators going after the enterprise client. Some standalone systems are out there, but they fail to deliver real-time communications, or any serious network functionality. So for these reasons, ISONAS is unique.

However, ISONAS realizes the importance of competent professional installation of their product, as well as proper specification and installation of the locking and control accessories that are required for a successful access control installation. The company offers offer a partnership program which makes it an attractive proposition for the locksmith to participate. Locknetics 672 REX TouchBar

The #672 REX TouchBar is a reliable low profile and cost effective non-latching releasing device. It is used to release a electromagnetic locking device, but may be used for other purposes. The unit is available with either a single pole double throw (S.P.D.T) or double pole double throw (D.P.D.T.) switch output. By specifying the D.P.D.T. version, the designer has the option of either interrupting both sides of the circuit to the locking device, or use one set of contacts to interrupt power to the electromagnetic lock, and the other to trigger the REX input on the access controller to provide a signal for legal egress, suppress forced door alarms and erroneous messages on the activity log, or on the system alarm monitor screen, if the system is being monitored remotely.

Before installing the #672, obtain the approval of your Local Authority Having Jurisdiction (LAHJ).

A means to bring the switch circuits off the moving door to the controller and other system elements will be required for the installation. Typically this will be by means of a door loop, wired hinge or power transfer device. The type and specifications of the device selected will be determined by the installation environment, and the electrical requirements of the application.

Locknetics also offers a model #692 TouchBar which offers additional features which we reviewed in a previous issue.

Locknetics has gone through some changes in these products since they were first introduced, however the changes have not been in the switching technology, but rather in the feature set and placing the product in the most advantageous price point.

By surveying your site proper to ordering, it is possible to order the #672 so that it will require a minimum of field engineering/prepping during the installation. For example the bar may be provided properly handed for your project, although it is possible to change the hand of the device on-site.

As mentioned, the standard single pole switch can be upgraded to the double throw.

The bare finish can be specified. The bar length can be pre-ordered (for example for a 36"; 42" or 48" doors, or even for special sizes). Extra long cables or armored cords are available.

The pushpad on the #672 can be provided with or without lettering. Choices include black pushpad with white, red , green or glow-in-the-dark letters or with NO lettering.

An optional WD sex-nut installation kit is available for installing the #772 on wood or hollow metal doors. For more information, call 866-322-1237 or visit www.locknetics.com.
