Manufacturers of aftermarket automotive transponder/electric key blanks are introducing significant numbers of key blanks and clonable key blanks that can be used on multiple automobile models.
For example, the new Bianchi Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles are equipped with the Fobik electronic ignition system. This “no mechanical ignition key” system uses RF signals to communicate with the ignition. Two styles are available, the remote with removable emergency key blade and the POD key. The POD key is an alternative mechanical key containing the necessary electronics in the bow portion in order to operate the ignition. The Bianchi part number is BY170-PT. Bianchi also offers the emergency blade for the remote key. The part number is BY171-P.
The STRATTEC 5910834 Toyota key blank is designed for late model Toyota vehicles equipped with the transponder-based engine immobilizer system. This one key blank can operate 16 different Toyota models ranging from 2003 through 2007. Other Texas Instrument engine immobilizer systems can be operated by the newly introduced Jet Hardware MIT12-PHT and MIT13-PHT.
Bianchi has introduced two key blanks for the Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep vehicles equipped with the Fobik electronic ignition system. The BY170-PT key is the Chrysler Pod key. This emergency or alternative mechanical key has the components necessary to electronically operate the ignition while having a key blade in order to operate the driver’s door mechanical lock. (You know, in case of dead battery, etc.)
The second key blank is the BY171-P, the key blade with release for the emergency key attached to the Fobik remote. Chrysler, Dodge and Jeep vehicles equipped with the Fobik system are:
2008-09 Chrysler Town & Country
2008-09 Chrysler 300
2008-09 Dodge Challenger
2008-09 Dodge Charger
