Baldwin Hardware's new commercial offering balances both form and function, through design-driven solutions that enhance entrances, while combining Grade 1 mortise locks and decorative trim with through-bolting, to provide stylish and secure looks. Fully pre-assembled, Baldwin offers an eclectic selection of mix-and-match levers, trims, turn knobs and finish options, in an effort to couple unique styles with ease of ordering and installation. This flexibility creates an answer to a wide array of commercial installations, including hospitality, multi-family, retail, education, healthcare and office spaces.

“At Baldwin, we never move into a category until we know we can bring truly distinct style options along with our continued commitment to quality, a pairing which has become our signature,” said Dave Albert, vice president of Baldwin Hardware. “Our new commercial introductions present architects, designers and specifiers with on-trend, Grade 1 solutions, while providing both contemporary and decorative styles.” Baldwin's commercial hardware is available through hundreds of dealers around the world.

Baldwin has established a true high-end ANSI/BHMA Operational & Security Grade 1 rated mortise set designed for heavy duty door openings. Operational tests include cycle tests that establish Baldwin's mortise lock will last over 1,000,000 cycles, while impact and tension testing verify the products meet all Grade 1 security standards.

Bluetooth® Compatible CyberKey for Mobile Authorization

Videx (www.videx.com) introduces CyberKey® Blue, a rechargeable key that uses Bluetooth® technology. Now CyberKey users with a BlackBerry® phone can update their key with a new access schedule and download their audit information while in the field.

The Bluetooth compatible key is a perfect solution for companies with employees who are mobile or located in remote locations, or when extreme security is required, such as with technicians servicing ATM machines. Rather than carry a key that is programmed to open all the ATM locks on that day's route, the service technician can now carry a key that receives authorization on-the-fly to open a specific lock on a specific machine at each location. Only when at the machine do they receive access permissions via their BlackBerry phone.

CyberKey Blue is the newest addition to the CyberLock Electronic Lock System. With CyberLock, virtually any type of lock can be converted to a higher-security electronic lock simply by replacing the lock's mechanical cylinder with the CyberLock electronic cylinder. The CyberLock system consists of software for managing the locks and keys, CyberLock cylinders that have no keyways to vandalize, and electronic CyberKeys that cannot be duplicated. All CyberLock cylinders and keys record openings and unauthorized attempts to enter. This detailed audit reporting can be extremely valuable to any organization.

ir white paper: access control end-user survey

Recent Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies interviews and surveys of over 800 access control end-users found that purchasers of access control systems need help in balancing security requisites with technology scope. Their concerns have been put into a White Paper entitled “Access Control Users Looking for Answers on How to Handle Ever-Changing Technologies.”

“Voice of the Customer inputs couldn't have been more specific,” emphasizes Rick White, Ingersoll Rand Security Technologies general manager. “Users want a new model for security and safety that lets them customize today while, at the same time, allows them to easily migrate or upgrade in the future.”

According to White, these security professionals challenged every preconceived, current practice in the security industry.

“This White Paper highlights the changes needed,” adds White. “We encourage security professionals as well as those in the access control industry to read it. It provides a road map to providing access control buyers with what they want.”
