Security Bars Can Add Profits On Every Job

Periodic news broadcasts tell of children who have fallen from upper floor windows in apartment buildings. While security bars are primarily considered as a method to prevent the wrong persons from entering a building, they can just as well be used to deter children from easily crawling out through upper floor windows. In either case, window bars can be an added profit center for locksmiths.

A company called Mr. Goodbar attended the 2009 ALOA convention and displayed a wide array of window and patio door security bars. Mr. Goodbar products are billed as “The Original Home Security Bars.”
There are six general styles of window bars.

Window guards are available as fixed models, hinged models and removable models. A joining post is available which connects two window guards for extra wide window requirements. Removable models can be used in commercial applications where security is only required after business hours. An optional keyless, quick release system is available for hinged models in case the window would ever have to be used as an emergency exit.
Installation begins by drilling holes and attaching one window guard frame. The Mr. Goodbar window guard is then slid into the attached frame. The third step is to slide the adjustable window guard against the opposite window jamb and mark where the guard frame retaining screw holes are required. Install the second window guard frame. The final step is to install retaining screws to complete the width adjustment. All installation screws have a special Robertson screw head to deter easy removal from the outside.
Mr. Goodbar offers a product display unit for locksmith shops. The unit occupies approximately four square feet of floor space, yet contains a wide variety of window guard products. A line of door grills and patio door bars completes the Mr. Goodbar lineup.
